No one has posted experience, but Cheshire Figment wrote a section about breaking one down to put in the back of a car that might be helpful to you. It is in the disABILITIES FAQs near the top of this board.
Since taxis usually have big trunks for carrying luggage, it should fit.

The problem I can see with standing upright in a taxi van would be lifting it in, since ECVs can be pretty heavy and the floor of a van is pretty high off the ground.

I don't know where you are going to and from, but just in case you didn't know, Disney transportation is mostly accessible (there are a few boats that are not) and many of the DME buses are equipped with lifts.
There are also wheelchair accessible taxis (most are mini vans with ramps). You may have a bit longer wait, but they can't charge more because you need an accessible one.

I have broke my ECV down more than a few times a put in the trunk of a car. My largest ECV is a Celeberty X. It weighs close to 200 lbs. It breaks down to 6 pieces including the 2 batteries. The heaviest piece is the frame and handle which stay attached. Probably around 50 lbs. I can get it in the trunk of a car by myself but is a lot easier when DW helps. It will fit in a 06 Impala trunk and I am sure taxi trunks are larger.

Thanks to both. I didn't know about the handicap taxi's. That would be great help.

My husband has broken down the rental ecv into a taxi. I will say, the taxi driver did not help at all, and more than likely will not know how to dis-assemble the ecv.

I recommend reading the directions, and bringing the directions w. you on your trip about taking the ecv apart. The pieces are heavy, and I wouldn't do it myself, but my husband can do it himself. Now we don't bring the directions, hubby knows it by heart.

The first time you attempt to take it apart, make sure it is not at night outside. Attempt taking it apart in a non-stress, well lighted room. One place we tend to always drive is downtown disney, and well usually its in the evening. My husband was happy, i insisted we practiced in the hotel room, instead of the first time outside in the dark.

Mine could be placed in the trunk as long as there's not too much other stuff there. The largest piece is about 32 lbs. I would think it would all depend on the scooter. They are all made so differently.

The problem with the accessible taxis is that Mears, which operates most of the variously named taxi services in the Orlando area, only has about six accessible taxis, and so the wait for one could be an hour or more.
