Has anyone used a Doula?

My sister-in-law is planning to train to become a Doula and is looking to talk via email to people who have used one, or to anyone who works as a Doula.

Please PM me if you can help her, I know it's very new to the UK, but sounds a really good idea

Not used one myself but it certainly seems like something I would seriously look into when I get pregnant. Seems like a great idea!

Have never heard of this but what a good idea. It would have beat DH who during the last stages of labour during the birth of our first DD asked did I want a bit of tangerine, and then during the birth of our second DD he fell asleep and I had to get the midwife to wake him up

I think It's a good idea particularly for nervous 1st time Mum's or those who've had previous bad experiences. It would ensure continuity . Tell her Good Luck
