We are taking our first Disney trip in June, and are driving. We are staying on site, and

are not big breakfast eaters, so we were thinking of bringing the electric cooler that plugs

into the cigarrette lighter, also adapts to 110v in your room, just to keep a gallon of milk,

and soda in. Has anyone tried this? I know you can request a refrigerator in your room,

but since we have this already, (not to mention, keep soda cold on the road, while traveling)

We thought we would bring it...Will Disney Resort allow it? We are staying at a Moderate

Resort...Thanks for your input.

I have used one on the last 5 trips to WDW. I make a stack of my favorite sandwiches for the drive down. Just take it to you room and plug it in on arrival. Compared to the folks that in room cook with George Foreman's or Mickey waffle irons they have never said anything. Once there I use mine mostly for fruit and Milk.
Here are a few things learned.
1. Defrost Daily- in heavy humidity locations the heat sink frosts over in about 12-24 hours. This isn't harmful but stops cooling efficiency. Defrosting takes 5 minutes just reverse the connector for heating.
2. In Car Power- these things pull between 5-10 amps and are intended to be plugged in with the engine/charging system running. If you are going to stop for 5 or more hours take a few minutes and run the vehicle for 20 minutes every few hours.
3. Noise- some models have LOUD fans. I am a log so this was not a concern but light sleepers will find the fan really annoying.
4. Price- Not cheep I looked for 3 months to find the lowest price on mine.

It was a good investment for me NO MORE ICE.

We used our electric cooler the last time we drove to Disney from Pennsylvania in 1988. It was great on the trip to keep snacks, sandwiches, and drinks. Once we got to the CBR we kept it in our room to put in the drinks we had brought along. It was nice to have a cool drink handy without having to leave the room to get one. This is an item we take on all of our trips. I have found the best price on this type of cooler is at WalMart, especially when they are on sale (About #89.00). :) ;) :)

We used one on our last trip. It worked quite well. We used ours on the way down from Alabama, kept water and cokes in it. When we got to CBR we kept water and milk in ours for our 8 month old. I would say it was well worth it, as someone mentioned before no more ice. We also kept leftovers in it from the food court, mainly pizza.

Just one caution...

These coolers are great, until you plug to cord into the cooler the wrong way. Then you get heat instead of cold. I made that mistake once and ruined a lot of food. Don't know if it would get hot enough for pop cans to explode, but I don't want to find out, either!!

Just make sure its plugged in correctly.

We have our cooler for 6 years and wouldn't travel to Disney without it - we use it the whole ride for soda, juices, fruit, cheese, snacks and then use it the whole time at Disney. My kids are not big breakfast eaters, so I always keep milk, juice, cereal, bagels, butter, cream cheese, PB & J on hand for breakfast. The cooler works out great, everything stays cold and no need to worry about ice. We have found that we like the no hassle of eating breakfast in the room and it does end up saving you a good amount of dollars.

Thank you everyone for your comments on this... We will definately take ours along.

... I just didn't want to be tacky and take it, if no one else

had taken theirs before... and didn't know if the Resort would allow us to use it..

It sure will come in handy, not having to eat breakfast outside of the room..Thought

about taking some disposable styrofoam bowls with plastic spoons for cereal too... I know

the teenagers will like not having to get up early.

Thanks again..
