Okay, now that I have your curiosity peaked,,,,,,I have lost 15# on what I call "the Disney world diet". Way before our trip to WDW in November, 2013, I decided to try to get into shape to be able to walk around WDW. We all know that it is a hike and a half just to get to the bus stop, then from the bus stop to the park entrance, then to trek all around the parks. It gets to be kinda intimidating! So,,,,,some back ground first: I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and don't do much exercise due to pain, etc. Also have the problem with tendons in my feet giving out or rupturing. Anyway, I am more of a couch potato than athlete
But I knew that I needed to try to get into better shape to "do" WDW. So I started in a gym using my silver sneakers free pass at the gym. Yes, being a senior does pay off sometimes. I tried to go 3 xa week and just do the treadmill. I told the personal trainer that I didn't want to train to run marathons, but just wanted to be able to tolerate walking more.
I also downsized my meals, watched the sweets, along with the treadmill. I tried to do 3 x a week, but in reality sometimes once a week or every 2 weeks, depending on my fibro
But I kept at it!!!! I am not an athletic type person. I high school, I was the girl that always got picked last for sports, just not coordinated or strong enough
So this is an accomplishment for me
I dropped about 10#'s that first time and am down l5# now and working on losing even more slowly.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that going to WDW and walking several miles was my inspiration and a goal I worked towards. It worked out great as I was able to tolerate walking longer distances and enjoyed my trip, with my husband, even more.
We are going again in November and I am again in training so I can enjoy the magic of disney
Love to hear from others who have done something like this.
