Hello, I just returned from The Royal Pacific Resort last week. My family and I attended the "Luau" and were very disappointed!

Let me just start by saying WE LOVE UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND LOEWS and visit at least 3 times a year and always stay on-site. We aren't picky at all and have never been dissapointed until this trip!
I was very, very let down with the "so called" Luau. We were charged $24.95 per adult and was expecting a festive atmosphere and show as well as a great buffet. The food was OK, but the stir fry station should be much bigger. You end up waiting in line for 10-15 minutes just to have this small dish of noodles and meat cooked up. There were maybe 4 people in front of me and I was in line for over 10 minutes. Also, there weren't many "comfort" foods....so you may want to look at the selection before ordering it. And the luau was nonexistent! Unless you call a man walking around singing 2 Hawaiian songs and 2 girls dancing a luau!?!? We were there for over an hour and he came out only twice. Each time he sang a couple of songs and then disappeared! I couldn't believe they were calling this a luau. I saw families all dressed up in tropical shirts and little kids with leis on and to say they were disappointed is an understatement! Being a
travel agent I felt I should address this with the hotel manager. He said he received a lot of complaints and they will pass it on "to the appropriate department." I would feel VERY, VERY leary about suggesting this to a client of mine.
I would also have to agree with other post in saying that the food is over priced. However, I have confidence that Loews will handle these complaints/suggestions and adjust the dining options!
Here is another dining "horror" story..........
There were two young ladies sitting next to me at The Islands Restaurant one morning who got up and walked out because a waitress had embarrassed them. One had ordered the buffet (which is $15 by the way) and the other a waffle and some fruit. Well, I guess the girl who didn't order the buffet needed to take a pill while she was waiting and took a bite of the other lady's bagel and the waitress came running up and LOUDLY said something to the effect of her not being able to eat the other girls buffet. The lady's face turned bright red and she tried explaining to the waitress that between the two of them they were spending over $30 for breakfast and that she was taking a pill and the waitress (who was so incredibly rude) interrupted her and said "I'm doing my job, you can't share!" The woman, who looked like a professional of some sort, got up and left. I don't blame her. I never felt so bad for someone in my life!!!! Loews better re-evaluate their help! That waitress made the hotel lose $30+ that morning (and I am sure much more if the lady went to the front desk to complain). They hadn't even been sitting down for longer than 5 minutes before the waitress assumed they were "sharing" a buffet! That is just tacky in my opinion!

Anyone staying at a Loews hotel shouldn't be presumed like that.
Anyway, like I said---I LOVE LOEWS and will continue to stay and send clients there, but they need to work on their staff and dining options. The hotel itself is gorgeous as are the rooms!
