After this weekends trip to Sesame Place with her I know I need a hip carrier cuz my arm is just killing me now!! Has anyone tried the Combi Urban Carrier or the EZ carrier before and can share what they like and don't like about it. Or any other hip carrier that can be used on either hip and has a small pocket for needed things while walking around disney like a phone and wallet.

She is 17 months and 22lbs right now and we will be going to Dis when she is 20months, 22months & 2.5yrs old so I want one that will last through all 3 trips if she will put up with it till that last one. But I mainly want one that I can use while waiting in line since that's when I mainly held her at Sesame or she walked or was in her stroller. Any others I would love to hear about, just don't like the wraps.
Thanks,
Margaux

I have a few hip carriers including the combi urban hip carrier. What I don't like about that one is you can't remove the built in rain cover which adds bulk though it can come in very handy if you suddenly get caught out in the rain. For a waterpark I would probably pick this hip carrier since it the most water repellent of the hip carriers I have. I also think it is my 2 year olds favorite hip carrier. My favorite hip carrier is the Ella Roo mei hip carrier because the fabric feels best around my shoulder and material is nicer for humid weather. However the material will stay wet once it gets wet (big possibility at a water park). Mine doesn't include a pocket but the urban hip carrier does. For winter time my favorite (no pocket though) is the kangaroo korner adjustable fleece pouch. A sling is more versatile than a dedicated hip carrier but I personally prefer the dedicated hip carrier past a year or so since that is my kids prererred position anyway. My dd is currently 27 months and 22lbs. For my 6 year old I had a maws easy hip carrier which I liked but didn't love and the material ended up ripping around the shoulder strap. It looks like one from onestepahead. I probably used it off/on until dd was 3/27lbs. I think it will hold higher weight but I never tested it.

Sorry I haven't tried either. I used the Playtex Hip Hammock and loved it. I'm very small and that one worked out best for me.

Hi. I have a Rockin' Baby Pouch that I used for my daughters in the hip carry position. I think the site is www.rockinbabysling.com.

There are so many choices of great hip carriers out there. Check out this site for descriptions, reviews, etc. www.thebabywearer.com.

Good luck!

Oops, I also meant to say that I have the Hotsling pouch and the Urban Pouch carriers which are both wonderful for hip carries as well. -Lesley

I have not tried any of the carriers you mentioned but I do have a ring sling and hotsling pouch that I use for my 17 mos old in the hip carry. They both work great and are very versatile carriers. You can find a hotsling at www.hotslings.com. They are also very cool b/c they are just fabric, no padding.

Have you considered a back carrier? There was a thread a few days back about them but I can't figure out how to find it and post the link without just digging. There are 2 pretty popular back type carriers. The ergo and the patapum. They both can be used as a front carrier and a back carrier but are best for a back carry (IMO). I have a patapum and love it. I also have a bECO which I adore. www.ecobabies.com. Problem is they are hard to get! I'm planning on taking mine to the parks when we go in Nov.
