Has anyone tried the Bonnet Creek Resort?

My DH and I both have the last week of December off of work so of course we had to plan a trip for Disney for the Holidays.

We are staying at Saratoga for 3 nights since we are DVC members.

However, we wanted to add another 2 nights and that time of year it is sooo expensive in DVC points and cash.

Good News...We were able to book 2 nights at the Bonnet Creek Resort in a one bedroom villa for a cheaper price than a Disney Moderate.

We have not stayed there before and we wanted to know if anyone has stayed there before. Basically, the good and bad reviews...

Thanks for your help!

I haven't stayed there, but I plan to at some point...does that count?

There is no such thing as a bad review of Bonnet Creek. If there is, I have yet to come across it in all my research. By all accounts, BC is nicer than the DVC resorts, without the high price tag. You do give up some of the conveniences (Magical Express, Disney bus system, not able to get a ticket and/or dining plan package, no resort package delivery, no Extra Magic Hours) but for most people the much more reasonable cost, additional space, and high end furnishings are an acceptable trade off. Enjoy your stay!

I was there this past Christmas, and we loved it. Be sure to request fireworks view about a week before you go (you can also request lakeview with a firewords view).

We were in a 2BR/2BA (very spacious) in building 5 and watched the fireworks every night (MK and Epcot both).

ETA: I've stayed at a lot of properties and formerly preferred houses, but Bonnet Creek has now become my favorite.

okay you have to start calling it Wyndham Bonnett Creek - because this nov - Hilton is opening two very, very nice resorts in the same area.

staying there this Sept - got an exchange for Sept - so staying first at BWV 1-bedroom, then to WBC in a 2-bedroom.

now waiting until Sept is a problem.

bonnett creek is the name of the development

will tell everyone about it.

We are also DVC members at SSR and always seem to be out of points so I rented points for a long weekend stay at BC last month. We loved it! We had a 2 bedroom and it was very spacious and nice. They didn't have any fireworks views left so we chose a ground floor that looked out to the lake. I think it was building 3. I just got a good deal on ebay for 7 nights in a 2 bd for spring break, the week before Easter. Disney prices are so high that week and even renting DVC points from another member would have been expensive since it is the highest points of the year and of course we wouldn't have been able to do any weekends. The location is fantastic. We always drive so we have our car and didn't use the shuttles last month. I like the fact that they do have a shuttle if you need/want to use it. I have a 16 month old and he will only nap in a crib so I'll be leaving each day shortly after lunch and then the rest of the fam can stay if they want and take the shuttle back. We didn't spend alot of time at the resort as we were only there for 3 nights and were in the parks most of the time so I'm really looking forward to being there for 7 nights to explore the resort. It is really beautiful and I'm sure you'll love it!

We are at Bonnet Creek now and love it. We will definitely stay here again. We got a great rate on a 2 bedroom (sleeps 8) off ebay. It is closer to the parks than some of the Disney resorts. There are daily shuttles, but we drove every day without any problems at all. Little to no traffic. Close to all resorts including Downtown Disney. We went off the site for dinner tonight and it took us 5 minutes. There are two pools, hot tubs, lazy river, small waterslide. I have no complaints at all.

We are going down in 2 wks for about the 6th time staying here. This time we have a 3 bedroom so I can't wait to see the layout. We love it here. Like other posters have said, it is very close to everything and very spacious.

I used ebay too - great rate! :thumbsup2

Gorgeous resort loaded with amenities in an excellent location. :thumbsup2 As long as you are not looking for Disney theming and onsite perks, you will probably love it!!! :goodvibes

In our case, the lack of theming was probably a plus. We're all adults (if DD was little, I might feel differently), and it's nice to come back to such an upscale location after spending time in the parks or shopping. :thumbsup2

We stayed in the 4 bedroom Presidential Suite back in January and it was incredible. We just booked the 2bdrm/2bath for next January as we don't have as many points next year since we've used some for other things.

It was a fantastic place and a great location.

I stayed at Bonnet Creek last December and absolutely loved it. We had stayed at Saratoga Springs the December before and originally wanted to stay there again but it was way too expensive (had a great deal the year before). The rooms were huge, we had a 2 bed for $120 a night which was about a third of the cost of SSR. The location is fantastic and the pools are great. It doesn't have the Disney atmosphere but I am sure most people could live without that if the were saving a fortune! We already had 17 nights booked at SSR for this August (44% off and free dining, UK offer) but if I hadn't, I would not have hesitated to go back to Bonnet Creek. Hopefully our next trip there will be this December but will wait until after August holiday to book just incase we are Disney'd out!

We're also trying it for the first time over the Christmas/NYE break. It gets such good reviews and it's price for that time of the year-vs-Disney was a no-brianer. We requested a fireworks view, also, and plan on calling before we go down to confirm that request again. I'm told that it's just a request, but it doesn't hurt to ask!:goodvibes

We just got back last week from a GREAT stay in a 2 bedroom at Bonnet Creek (through Ken Price, http://www.vacationupgrades.com/ (is it okay I post that? I know others here have used him). Anyway, it's a great resort, plenty to do between the pools and free mini golf and other kid's activities for the days we didn't go into the parks. My younger two loved the lazy river and pool with the slide, dd16 and her best-est friend had a blast at the karaoke night! And the proximity to the parks, especially Epcot and Studios can't be beat!

We requested the fireworks view and then arrived on Christmas Day only to be told that someone had neglected to assign us a room. :scared1: I told them that I had called two weeks ahead of time and then called again a week ahead of time (being very nice and polite all the time). She worked on it for a little while and managed to come up with a fireworks room (and apologized for the confusion). We had a great view of the fireworks! ::yes::

If I were you, I'd probably call the day before I arrived to see whether your room had been assigned yet (can't hurt :goodvibes).

Good to hear. I've been staying in OKW recently, but we have an upcoming exchange into WBC for this July---I just confirmed it today.

This is the resort that convinced me to by into Wyndham---three years later, I'll finally be staying there. ;)

What kind of schedule does the shuttle run? We're staying there for the first time in mid June.
