Has anyone tried Herbie's Drive-In?

I was wondering about the food at Herbie's in MGM. The prices look great but would like to know about the portion sizes and if the food is any good. So who out there has tried it?

Herbies? Do you mean Sci-Fi Drive in? If so, we have been there a few times for lunch. My DH has had the buger and onions rings and said they were pretty good, basic fare. I have had the grilled chicken sandwich, and it tasted like it came from McDonalds! Overall, it's not gross, but it's not great either.

Its a new counter service near the car stunt show in MGM. They serve steamed buns. You can view the menu on allears.

I had a pretzel with cheese dip, and a bottle of water there a month ago. It was your typical pretzel. Cheese was warm. The steamed buns looked good though!

I was wondering about Herbie's also. I've never had a steamed bun and wondered what they are and how they were at Herbie's

Ditto...what is a steamed bun?

The steamed buns I know are Asian - basically a bun filled with something and steamed instead of baked to cook. When they're done right, they're yummy as all get out, but like most food, when they're done badly, they're not great.

I'd love to hear a review from someone who likes a good steamed bun and has tried these. :)

In Hawaii, a steamed bun is filled with a sweet barbeuced pork mixture...they are delicious!! I am hoping someone who has been to Herbies will come let us know how they are!

...there are three kinds:

Barbecue Pork Steamed bun $1.99
Curry Vegetable Steamed bun $1.99
Chicken and Mushroom Steamed bun $1.99
Steamed Bun Sample (sample of each) $4.99

But no other description beyond that.

We got the sampler to eat while standing in line for the stunt show. They were pretty good, as far as buns go. There is a Chinese Supermarket downtown on 50 near Fashion Square that has huge steamed buns for $1, and they have a variety of ingredients in each. The buns at the studios were 4-5 bites. The barbecue was best. The chicken second, and the curry third. I am not a huge curry fan, but it was ok. It had long lines due to the fact that the CM had to explain to each person what a steamed bun was. Well, everyone except us.

I never heard of that place! I skipped right over it when looking at menus on Deb's the other day.
I love a good steamed bun. We go for Dim Sum alot & I always get the Veggie Steamed Buns. I'll have to check this out.

Altho, being a CS in MGM doesn't bode well.....

We had the BBQ and the veggie curry. I'm a HUGE curry fan and I have to say the flavor in the veggie curry bun was really disappointing. It was just very bland. The BBQ pork one was good though-- nice and sweet/savory and fluffy. They're kind of on the smallish side, though...
