Has Anyone Tried Aldi's Pirogies?

I don't think our Aldi's carries them either. :guilty: Our store just moved quite a few things around too, so it's like having to learn the store all over again. We just got the new cooler section which they put in some of the lunchmeat and produce items in that. Now it's a big bottleneck of carts in that area for some reason. I will really scour the freezer section next week when I am in there and look for the pirogies. Our Save-A-Lot store carries them though, and they sound like they are cheaper there. Only .99 a box. I usually go in there and buy at least 6 boxes at a time and just keep them in the freezer. Will be wonderful if Aldi's here opens on Sundays! :yay:

How do you like to cook them? I've only had them a few times, but I think they are great! :thumbsup2

my family makes pierogi's every year - the saturday before xmas - and I am talking thousands. (my mom has 5 brothers and sisters plus their kids and now our babies) so there are a lot. but I like home made and home made only. so yummy, my share is eaten all the time the week after xmas - I can't help myself.

We do this as well, although we didn't do it this year because my mom passed away 12/1 and no one could bring themselves to get together & do it. We are planning a spring date though to make them as family and I'm in proud possession of my mom's famous rolling pin. Guess my house will be covered in flour for a weekend! :)

For those that have never made them, consider trying a small batch with a friend or two. It is very, very inexpensive to make the dough and you can fill them to your liking. I am allergic to eggs now so I found a terrific eggless version and they taste great!

OH MY- I'm now so hungry for pierogies I can't stand it. There's a little church by us that sell them but they run 6.50/ dz. I can't quite justify that so I'll definitely have to try the Aldi's brand. And I'm also excited that they'll be open on Sunday- but sorry for the workers..

I just put them in boiling water and then remove them from the water with a slotted spoon when they float. Then I serve them with onions sauteed in butter.
Not a low cal food, but we really enjoy them. :)

Here's alowcal. low fat :rotfl2: :rotfl2: recipe that my girls love. Melt 1/4 butter in a fry pan, add 1 sliced onion and a pile of pirogies. Fry until a bit browned and serve with sour cream!!!!
I grew up on the Mn /Canadian border and we ate them all the time, especially at the Curling Club instead of Fries with vinigar (Yuck) :rotfl:

Diet Food I'm sure!!!
