Hi there,

Have a semi-good deal for Budget for our trip at the end of Sept (around $165 for the week) for full size car. But was just looking around and found an alamo deal for $150 for the week (including taxes etc.). I saw on their website there is an online check in. It basically says you book online, check in at home (not sure how far in advance you can do this???) then print your documents. When you get there you head right to the lot and pick your car, then show your documents to the attend on your way out. Sounds too easy??? Anyone do this before? I wouldn't even have to register with *********** program? Any recent experiences??

Just wondering why someone would use the kiosk if you can even avoid that with the online checkin.

Major question is do you need to register with *********** to do online checkin?

Also, does anyone know how far in advance you can do an online checkin? Like if my trip is 2 weeks away, can we do it today?

Isn't it bizarre that they censor Quick Silver?! We booked 3 weeks in advance and did the online check in immediately.

If you don't get a chance to do online the kiosk check in at Orlando takes less than 5 minutes to do. I went to the bathroom while DH did the kiosk check in and by the time I came out he was done and waiting on me.

Alamo's frequent renter's club happens to have the same name as an Orlando-area town car company which violated some DIS rules. The filter doesn't censor by topic discussed, it merely filters by specific words or terms; it can't tell we're talking about Alamo.

We have rented from Alamo for many years - usually found their hot deals have the best rates. We do online checkin. You can usually do it as soon you book or receive your confirmation. (of course we usually book about a month or less out to take advantage of the hot deals). It really works out great - especially in crowded airports where there are long lines at checkin and kiosks. You cannot do online checkin if you are using a coupon rate though.

Here is the info from their website:
To qualify for Online Check-In, you must:

•Meet minimum rental age requirements.
•Have a valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license.
•Provide a valid major credit card.
•Alamo does not accept debit cards at time of rental. Although a debit card may be accepted online, you will not be able to process your transaction at time of rental.
•Not available for some specialty class vehicles.
•The following credit cards may be used to complete your Online Check-Insm transaction:
U.S. issued credit cards: Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover
Canada issued credit cards: American Express, Mastercard, VISA

Online Check-In is not available with reservations that contain the following:

•Reservation is more than 30 days in duration.
•Reservation is "On Request".
•Additional equipment such as child seat/toddler seat/infant seat or ski racks, etc. Rentals requiring additional
equipment must go to the rental counter.
•Coupon (including ecoupons) used with reservation.
•Voucher used with reservation.
•Applicant Business Account Number used with reservation.
•Central Bill Number used with reservation.
It is not available at all airports, you can check their website under check in for more info.

Yes, I have used the online check in and Yes, it is that easy. It worked basically the same as National's Emerald Club would work.

I checked in online and printed out the paperwork. I went to the garage, picked out my car, and drove to the booth. I showed them my paperwork and DL and off I went. It is that simple.

One drawback to online check in is that you cannot use a coupon. You can use a corporate code, but no coupon. Coupons have to be redeemed at the kiosk or rental counter.
