Has anyone tried a "mosquito deleto" or "mosquito magnet" trap?

Hi -

I'd like to know if anyone's tried these traps and if it worked well. Those little critters just eat me up and I'd get one of these if they were pretty easy to use and effective.

The mosquito deleto is made by Coleman and the mosquito magnet I believe they sell at Home Depot Stores.

Thanks a lot :)

I highly recommend the Mosquito Magnet! It is very easy and safe to use and maintain, and best of all, it works great. The hardest part is making sure you've always got propane in your tank. You won't believe how many mosquitos are in your trap net. Check out their website, they have many testimonials from all sorts of people--celebrities as well as regular folk like us.

I'm not sure about the Coleman product, but I think that is the one that has an open flame on it. Not too good with kids around.

We have what's called "Mosquito Trap (or Trapper)", where we live there is a creek that beavers had dammed up and "skeeters" (that's what we call'em here in the south:) ) were AWFUL. DD could not go outside in the morning or night, you could literally see them swarm to her. Anyway, we bought this last summer and it did work, used no bug spray after we bought it, we would check it about once a week and there would be about 75-100 in there. We did still get eaten some, but keep in mind - we had a dam across the street. Last month a wildlife control company came out, when I talked to him he said that they had to get rid of the beavers and get the water flowing again, I asked what they did with the beavers - hoping they would take them out to the country, but he said they would have to be destroyed:( . He said "I don't see how y'all have lived out here, the mosquitoes are already eating me up!" and went on to say that cleaning up that dam should cut back on our mosquito problem significantly - time will tell -right! We are getting ready to set ours back up for the summer, DH is getting the propane this week. We paid between $300-400 for ours, but with the West Nile and all, you can't put a price on it. Also, check around, ours covers 3/4 acre some more some less, I highly recommend it. Sorry for the long explanation, but I hoped it helped.

Thanks for the replies. The Mosquito Magnet sounds good. So Allie322 - how much propane do you go through? I mean how fast do you go through a tank? I

And KristiKelly - do you know who makes yours? I'll have to do a search and see if I can find it. 3/4 acre is about the size I need to cover also.

Thanks, it does help. I'd hate to spend that kind of money for something that doesn't work!
