Has anyone thought about the year 2041 and 2042

If the current state of affairs remain....

Iran is on its way to a nuclear bomb within the next ten years and guess who they are going to drop it on. The receiving country who is near by also has nuclear capability.

Fossil fuels will be in very short supply and China is going to need alot. Guess who is carving up Africa for their natural resources? Panda anyone? China may consider Africa vital to their national security and warn others to stay put. Who currently says hands off Saudi Arabia? USA vs China someday?

China and India are going to challenge the USA for global superiority.

I am actually an optimist so I am not going to worry about 2042,

As the compassionate M*A*S*H psychiatrist Dr. Sidney Friedman once said, "Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice."

I'll keep my pants on thank you but 2042, give me your best shot.

With the gradual rising of water levels as the polar ice caps melt, won't the whole of Florida be under water by 2042?

Maybe BCV could actually be beachfront property by then. Resale values will skyrocket!

Seriously...

When we were buying our house, a mortgage lender actually told us to go for an adjustable interest rate mortgage because in the next three to five years, there would be a major terrorist attack and interest rates would plummet.

Remembe, a little over 48 years ago, there were NO disney theme parks, so anything can happen.

...around, say, 2030, Disney will begin to offer extensions to contracts -- for a tidy fee, of course. They'll offer some incentive to induce people to extend -- i.e., lock in now and it will be cheaper and we'll throw in a couple annual passes, to boot. There will be some cloying advertising -- "Pass on the Magic to the Next Generation!" -- and all will be well with the world.

If there still is a world. Or The World. :wizard: ;)

Me too! I'll be 90, and as a matter of fact, when we had a Financial Planner helping us with our retirement plan, he tried to ask us gently how long we hoped our retirement money to last (translation: how long we expected to last). I told him plainly, "Well my DVC expires when I'm 90, so I don't mind if I do too. We can expire together."
