What a pain in the backside! I have spent about 10 hours on the computer trying to rid myself of this insipid little beast! I searched the 'net, Lavasoft, and e-mailed Symantec as well. I was able to locate several different types of fixes and, fingers crossed, I think the last very involved one worked to cure the computer!
This pesky bug is a pop-up that appears whether or not you're connected to the 'net. It also has the ability to replicate itself when you are on the delete trail. It downloads itself to your computer without prompting the typical permission window. You don't know it's installed until the window pops and tells you "thanks for downloading. . ." and at that point you can't stop it. Some of the techies seemed to think it infects through some of the streaming audio websites--I play 365 all the time for Disney music, BUT the kids also play audio from Launch. . .who knows?
Oh yeah, the lovely thing is that Norton's, Adaware, Spybot, etc. aren't able to detect this sneaky pest. Here's hoping these programs (or another) soon find a fix that prevents the download from occurring to begin with.
Anyway, just had to vent a bit about all the time I've invested over the last couple of days dealing with this crazy bug. Why do these computer savvy idiots create these silly pests anyway!
Thanks for listening. . .anyone else had this issue yet?
