Has anyone taken pets and left them at the hotel?

We have taken our small doggie with us on several small trips. Not Disney. We always go to places that accept pets. We don't leave him alone in the room much at all. Only to go eat and such.
Our disney trip will be the longest time I have ever spent away from him. He will be staying with my mom. Which will be an adventure for both him and us. I just know I will be calling every day to check up. :scared:

And you REALLY can't leave a pet in the room all day, even in a hotel that does accept them. It's not fair to the pet.

I am all for being kind to animals, it really makes me irate when people aren't but leaving a pet in a hotel room for the day is the same as leaving them home for the day when you go to work etc. I would hope people would have the common sense not to leave them for too long, but hotel room vs. the persons house isn't too different. (If all considerations are taken into account, maid not coming in, food and water left etc.)

It would be a good idea to board the animal or leave it with family/friends for it's safety and your sanity. It's not fair to the animal to you leave it in your room all day and not fair to you to have to look after a pet during a vacation at a Disney resort.

that being said, to the poster who brings the chihuahua, even if no one's vacation is disrupted or inconvenienced when you are there, you can not be sure that your pet does not inconvenience (OR WORSE) the people that check in after you if they have allergies... 'cause we've all heard how immaculately the rooms are cleaned between guests

You know, to be 100% completely honest, I hadn't considered people with extreme allergies. :guilty:
My son has mild allergies and that's why we have only the short haired chihuahua in the house, and the viscila has become an outside dog. . . .and he's never had a problem. . . . . . BUT I often forget there are people with extreme allergies that this could pose a problem to. Thanks for reminding me.

It was a one time deal, sneaking her in. We generally stay at places where dogs are allowed. . . although it can take some "digging around" to find out which ones do and don't. Which I find odd. . . .if resorts were worried about second guest allergy problems then they would be more open about their animal policies, wouldn't they? I always thought the whole "no pets" thing was because pets CAN cause damage and inconveniences and noise, and all sorts of problems. (I feel it's the bad dog or cat owners that make it hard on the responsible ones by being bad examples)
