Has Anyone Stayed Deluxe After Value and Not Been Impressed?

We started out value and worked our way up to deluxe. WL was our first DEluxe and we truely loved it. We however were happy in values too. If given a choice, we will stay deluxe but we are not deluxe snobs. We are trying to work out vacation times to go with our best friends on thier first trip and it will be a value trip at all stars. I'm a little worried that it might not seem as magical after deluxes but I am sure it will be fine. Our next goal is the GF and I am sure that a value will be hard to swallow after that one!!

We have stayed deluxe after moderate (never tried value) and we were always impressed. I LOOOOOVE the CR, its my favorite...not for the decor or anything...but the closeness to MK just cant beat it...also staying in the tower watching the castle change colors while you fall asleep is GREAT! If you are staying in the wings with a monorail view, the walkway is practically right outside your door. I think you will love the CR....I was skeptical before we went, but I really liked it.

Anything I see of the Deluxes (except for AKL) doesn't have me impressed. They all seem very generic to me (albeit very luxurious).

I have stayed at the ASM with my kids and they love this resort!! Always have a grea time and the food courts are great.

CBR - was a great place too, very tropical great walkways but a very big place. Would definitely go back.

Have stayed at OKW and GF, and was pleased with both. OKW being more like a hometown.

This summer will be staying at BCV ans VWL. Looking forward to these, will be able to rent mouseboats etc. . . no food court, but my griddle will be coming along!!

If you are looking for activities, I would definitely look far good rates. I know that the CR looks apealing from a distance, but I have been there and eaten there and was not impressed. I would stay at the poly of GF over the CR. They both have beautiful properties. The beach at the poly with the volcanoe pool was awesome. Restaurants are great at the poly. Have eaten at ohana's several times. I love the GF, but tha is not for everyone and I can understand that.

Have you tried looking into BC/YC/BW?? Have heard great things about these places!!

Hmmm, I would never go back to value unless I was destitute.

We have stayed at PO-R, formally Dixie Landings 3 times. Once in Alligator Bayou in bldg 14 and twice in Magnolia Bend in Magnolia Terrace and Partierre Place. Preferred bldg 14 and Partierre Place. Will stay there again.
Have stayed at POFQ once--- LOVED it! More intimate, great food court (who could resist those beneits?), great castmembers, and now the rooms have been totally refurbished. Oh and DD says the Serpent Slide is her favorite! Will definitely stay there again.
Wilderness Lodge- beautiful pool and lobby design, but a bit dark and drab in the rooms, and also, the rooms are just too small for all of that big dark furniture. Probably will not stay there again.
The Contemporary--- loved it! The rooms were huge. There was alot of energy throughout the resort. Yes, the room colors were a bit bold from the 1st, but we got used to it pretty quickly. Loved the layout of the bathrooms... best on property! Very convenient, transportation wise. Cm's very friendly and accomodating! Will definitely stay here again, and look forward to seeing what they do with the rehab!
Caribbean Beach Resort--- loved the color scheme throughout the resort. The interior of the rooms was very nice, with pretty soothing colors. We had a corner room, so having the 2 windows was an added perk! Only complaint is how far everything is from everything else. We were in Barbados, and it was a 20 minute walk just to get a soda from the food court. Yes, we would stay here again, but would request a village closer to the main building-- my special request would be Jamaica, bldg 44.
AS-Mo- very cute resort. Liked the larger than life characters, esp where we were.... Dalmations! The Fantasia pool was under rehab while we were there, but it looked nice (we ended up swimming in the Calypso pool at Music, which was a very nice pool,) DD missed the slides that can be found in the mods and deluxes. The food court was very nice. The castmembers didn't seem as accomodating as those is some of the other resorts, but maybe they were just having a bad day. Only complaints were hearing the toilets flushing from the other rooms, and the bus transportation. Would stay here again if going for a trip where we are going to spend most of our time in the parks, brought earplugs along for everyone, and didn't mind driving everywhere.
Polynesian-- hands down, our favorite. Nice sized rooms with Polynesian flair. Decent sized bathrooms. Our room had a balcony, and we had a nice view of the quiet pool. The grounds were outstanding, and kept well, and this was only 2 weeks after our 3rd hurricane coming through. The restaurants were both wonderful, the Castmembers were friendly and extremely accomodating. Loved the Volcano pool, esp the jets at the end with the slide. The beach was very relaxing and I loved lying on the hammocks reading my book in the morning. The view of the castle is breathtaking. The lobby is my favorite in all of WDW! Can't wait to stay there again. This time I am saving up for concierge and we will spend a GREAT deal of time at the resort!

We stayed at POP and hated it. We found it to be barracks like and the pool was so drab. We moved on to Port Orleans and loved it. What a difference. I know POR is a moderate but I would choose it over POP or the Contemporary anytime.

We bounce between the value and delux resorts all of the time. We enjoy each for what they offer during different times of the year. When it's value season, we stay at the delux because the price is better. During regular season we stay at a value for a longer timeframe. We are at WL next week, because it's value season, got a great rate, need the hot tub during the cold evenings, and plan to eat at WC for breakfast every day, and like to boat over to trail's end. But in May we are at Pop century (16 days)--it's regular season, got a good rate, the days are longer, so will be out running during most of the day and night, only need a pool to lounge by during the day, have a rental car so can eat at any resort. September, value season, back to the contemporary for us--it's my birthday and I like this resort and how convenient it is to MK, my favorite park. Late October, regular season, back to PoP again for 12 days. Food and Wine going on, will be running to the parks most of the days and just need a pool to rest by, don't need anything fancy. So I think each resort fills the needs for each person during different times of the years. The only thing I can say is that we don't find the moderates worth the money. They are neither delux in feel, nor value in price, so after staying at all of the moderates more than 20 times in our lives, we don't bother anymore. It's either deluxes (WL, CR, AKL) or values (any of them) for us.
