Has anyone stayed at the Tapatio Cliffs in Phoenix?

We are looking to finish up our vacation out west in Phoenix as that is where our flight is out of. I thought this would be a good place for the kids as it will be hot in June. Anyone stayed there and can give me feedback on it? Thanks.

Are you talking about the Pointe Hilton? I've stayed there twice.

It's really, really beautiful. It used to be a pretty stuffy golf & convention resort, but they've added a lot for kids. They've got a nice kid-type pool and play area and a kid's activity program during the summer season.

For a couple of nights it would be pretty nice, but the kids might get bored after that. It's still pretty golf/spa/convention.

yes. I know they have two resorts. The Tapatio and Squaw Valley (?). basically we would only be there from late Wed night and checking out on Friday morning early to catch a flight. I thought Thurs in the pool would be a good day for the kids to unwind from a 2 week vacation before we head home. So it is a nice hotel? I got a good rate of $84.15 for a 1 bedroom. Hard to pass up, but I wanted to make sure it is nice. Otherwise we may spend an extra night at the Grand Canyon instead.

Stayed there last year and it was very nice, especially the pool. The rooms weren't brand new but I had no issues with them. I remember the staff being very friendly.

It's a lovely hotel. It's not new, but it's in good repair and they've added a lot.

For the purposes you've stated and price you got, it sounds like a great match!

Hope you have a blast!!!

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I got a good hotel and it will be a nice, easy end to a hectic vacation.

I've stayed there too- like others have said- I have no complaints about the hotel and staff- and we did have problems with our first room- (the first morning it started to "rain" into the bathroom lighting fixture in our bottom floor room- they took care of it right away and put us in a new room in a matter of minutes- and gave us lots of comps too)-

We went in January so I can't comment on the weather- but there is a desert you can hike in that has trail heads right from the resort grounds- dh and I enjoyed seeing the cacti and other things up close and it really is a different environment if you haven't ever been.

We spent spring break there last year, my review should still be on trip advisor. We would not return, but it was more an issue with the food and parking.

I left one on trip advisor as well. pool was good. Hotel had potential, but don't know if the problems were addressed.

No hiking in June unless you are a professional, conditioned athlete!! ;)

I go there every summer, in fact have my trip booked for august again this year. I personally love the place, like the food, do valet parking, use the shuttle to get from my room to the pool, have always liked the staff and reccomend this hotel to all my friends with kids. There are a ton of activities for them, the pool and slide are great, we like the adults only pool at night after the kids settle down and just genuinely like the place. We have visited squaw peak for the day and didn't like it as much. Too crowded feeling and just overall not for us.

WE stayed there about 15 years ago. I loved it! We went in January however and it was too cold to use the pool. The rooms were lovely and very clean. The staff was very friendly. I would stay there again.:thumbsup2

I didn't like the slide because it is enclosed even at the entry point. I love slides, but hate water in my face, I have great technique at sitting up at the very last minute, and controlling my entry, but the enclosed slide wont let you do that! Also they have a lot of pepper trees that shed constantly into the pool! Like i said, we wouldn't return...
