We are booked at the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort in August. Just wonder if they have a free shuttle to the park and what you thought of your stay.

Is this the one in Garden Grove? Is so, then we stayed there a liked it a lot! I will wait and post about it once I know this is the same one you are asking about!!

I stayed at a Residence Inn near the park and they used the Anaheim shuttle to get you to the parks.

Safety Mom: I get back from the sandbox in 2 weeks and the family has reservations at the Residence Inn Maingate for a week. We have a loft suite and there are 7 of us. What did you think about the accomadations.

Thanks

The only thing I didn't like about this Residence Inn is that it is the old style where you have to walk up steps to get to your second floor rooms. I like the newer Residence Inns where everything is inside and you can use elevators.

Other than that I thought it was very nice.

The one in Garden Grove is a newer property with about 5 or 6 floors and elevators. The other one people are talking about is an older one in Anaheim.

As for the GG one, we stayed there back in October of 2003 when it was only a few months old. It was great! We had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. One bedroom had two queen beds and the other had bunk beds. The couch in the living room folded out as well so 8 people total can sleep in that suite! We also had a kitchen and 3 TV's. It was perfect for our party of 6!

The shuttle service is great! You catch it right next door at the Hyatt. You just walk through the back gate and across the driveway and you are there! There is a Starbuck's right inside the Hyatt too! Made it very easy to have our coffee each morning while waiting for the shuttle. You are also close to a lot of places to eat and a Target.

The free breakfast is very good! It saved us a lot fo money for sure! They had all kinds of cereals, breads, fruit, juice, coffee, soda, pastries, waffles, eggs, pancakes, etc... Very, very good!

If you have any other questions, please let me know! You will enjoy your stay there!

We stayed at the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort during the last week of June 2005 to July 2. As of July 1st, there will be no free shuttle bus sevice for Residence Inn Guest. Guest can use the (ART) Anaheim Resort Transit for a fee pass of $3.00/person ages 10 years and older. Once you paid the pass for the day. It can be used unlimited for the whole day. For those under 9 years old accompany by an adult is free. Catching ART is curbside on Harbor Blvd. in front of hotel. Check out their website for more information:
www.RideArt.org

As for our stay there, we stay in a Kid's suite. The kids had bunk beds and their own bathroom. Our DS stay with us in our 2 queen beds room, and we had our own bathroom and the only closet in the whole suite. The living/dinning/Kitchen separates the kids' bedroom and our bedroom. The living room had a sofabed that we didn't use. It was a very nice layout of the suite.

We find the hotel small compare to the Hyatt next door. There are only 2 elevators in the building. I see most guests would walk up the stairs instead of waiting for the elevators.

Don't expect any help with your luggage. It is self-serve. We had to unload our luggage ourselves when checking in. When checking out, there was no luggage dolly to be found. We had to move our luggages, a few pieces at a time. What we learn from this is that you got hog up the dolly very early in order to check out.

As for Breakfast, get there before 8 AM. It was crowded and the staff started to clean up. Make-your-own-belgium-waffle was great, but it takes 2 1/2 minutes to make one. There are only four waffle makers, and there will be a line waiting for it.

Overall, it didn't feel like a full scale hotel. If you would like more info regarding Residence Inn Anaheim Resort, please PM to me.

How far is the walking distance from the RI@maingate to the park entrance. I have no problem walking distances, but the wife may have..she had foot surgery in Jan and is still rehabing. She may have to take ART.

Thanks

It's about a mile from Disneyland.

I have a couple of threads about the Residence Inn Maingate & RI Resort Area stuck at the top. You can get to them by going to the following link. These threads have pics, too.

For a family of 5 I prefer Residence Inn Maingate. I like the grounds better, pool area better, and dining area better. However, if you like the two separate rooms, with the kids suite, then the Residence Inn Resort Area might have nicer rooms, althought the RI Maingate has a penthouse suite with a loft and a separate bedroom that would be nice.
