Hi!!

Has anyone ever stayed at the Orange Lake Resort?

I have a vacation scheduled there from December 1-12 and am interested in any hints and tips that you might have for me.

I will be renting a car and will have an AP

Thank you,
Shykat

Love the place...

We have been going there the past 10 yrs and each year I feel is better than the rest...

The people there are so nice...
The pools are great...
The resturants are great...
The - Awe who the heck am I to say what is great - go and see for yourself- the place everything about it is great!!!!

the place is too big for the number of pools. my opinion.

the pools could use better cleaning.

it is a lovely resort

this is the Western section the oldest and worst. but it was lovely for us.

only the newer sections have a whirlpool tub in the master. no shower stall either.

a very, very long walk to the pool - we drove.

now if you want golf - that is a completely different matter.

my one BIG complaint - that traffic light it on the intersection of Orange lake and US 192 and it holds for minutes.... like 10 minutes I timed it. that is a long, long time when no one else is in the intersection..... (Spicey needed to be feed at 7:00am - so this was 6:30am leaving)

Big resort..you have to drive to alot of stuff

Some complaints about the lack of help or caring from the staff

If you arent an owner you are not treated as well (even though many owners either defend this or disgree vehemently)

Some of the older units are supposedly not kept up like they should be

On the plus side the place does have alot to do

Hi there! We're owners too, have been for about 14 years I think. I love it there - we have 2 weeks in the Fall and 2 in May. Yes...it's big and yes there's lots to do - we've never been disappointed and we've exchanged times for other times of the year, so we've been staying at almost all of the new areas and old. We've also traveled extensively in our 42 years of marriage and have always said that OL is the best.. The few times we've had a problem with something at our unit...it was addressed within 20 minutes of our phone call. I do hope you will love it...they refurbish the units every six years (I think) - and are in the process of redoing all the older units at this time. Do a search here and you'll get lots of opinions...but all said - I think it is one of the best you'll find in the area. You'll have lots of room and can be at Disney quickly taking the Sherberth route. Those directions should come up when you do a search, it not....pm me and I'll give them to you. Have a wonderful time....I think you will!! Barb in Texas

according to member services and contrary to some reports, they were going to start doing the "big" refurb on the west village units starting september 01

in their email back to me, even though it was asked how many units were "being" done, they express no NUMBERS, but just said it is going to take years ....

they did/do have a "model" west village unit for "preview" and someone said they had started on 200 units ( who to believe member services or posts on the internet ), it definately would be interesting to get the view of someone who has stayed in the "new" west village units

edited to add....

OLCC is now listed as a RCI points resort on RCI ( something to do with the new Global Access program at Orange Lake )

by the way, an owner here since 1991 but can see how the posts by some who have not been happy with their stays could be true.....after all it is there experience of the resort

our most recent stays have been in the East Village even though our units were in the West Village ( the east village backs onto Animal Kingdom and some nights/mornings the "aroma" was quite sharp, of course, that does not reflect on OL, just an observation )

a lot of the posts about OL has a lot to do with "expectations" and whether they were met or not.....

we have never regretted owning there....

We stayed there a few years ago and didn't like it. OLCC is too big, you have to drive to the pools, we found our unit and building dirty, and the location on 192 is out of the way, IMHO.

My mom is also an owner since 1991. We love the place! And yes is big. You should rent a car for your stay.
