My husband, 4 year old and parents are going in early Feb. Has anyone stayed at the CBR lately? Any tips to make our stay better?:dance3:

Welcome to the DIS. You might want to read the CBR FAQ thread listed below. You will have a wonderful vacation staying at CBR.

We were there at the end of August. We love CBR.

They are doing a rehab on the main pool, just so you know. Each village has a quiet pool, so it shouldn't be a problem unless you have your heart set on using the main one.

I can't think of any tips other than to try to upgrade to a preferred room if you want to be close to Old Port Royale, or try to get a room in Jamaica or Aruba which is across the little bridge.

We were kind of upgraded for free when we checked in. We got a room in Trinidad North, which is a preferred building, but I'm not sure if all the rooms are preferred so if we weren't upgraded it was as close as you could get without being preferred. We were right across from the bus stop and a pretty short walk away from OPR.

We stayed at the CBR in May. We really enjoyed it. I have also stayed at the CSR and I prefer the CBR. We are going again in May 2008 and are staying at the POR because we need room for 5. The CBR is pretty big, sprawled out. We got a preferred room but it was still quite a walk to get to the food court. We liked having a quiet pool close to our room, very nice for a swim after a long day.
The room was clean,no problem with that, not a lot of towel animals if you are into those but we did get a small swan one time.

This is a nice resort. It is really nice to walk around the lake and enjoy the lush landscape. However, it can be quite a walk to the food court. I would suggest buying milk and juice in the store there, make your own coffee, and save yourself having to walk to the food court. I prefer to do this anyway to save $! The rooms are a good size and the double sinks make getting ready very convenient. If the pool wasn't being rehabbed, we'd be staying there in April- it was my daughter's first choice!

safetymom, have you been over near cbr lately? i am just wondering if the pool deck refurb is done? they said it would be complete by 11/13.

There is no work at all being done by the pool. The walkway outside the pool by the lak is being worked on. If you look at the last couple of pages of the CBR FAQ thread you can see the pictures I posted.

All the work is behind screens and isn't very noisy. We stayed there last week and it was fine.

We stayed at CBR from 6/8-6/16 2007! We loved this resort. I think my DS(7) would go back in an instant. It will be hard to convince him about a different resort in 2009. I like to stay at the different value/moderate resorts(maybe POR or POFQ in 2009). We were in Jamaica. Great location:thumbsup2

I love this resort.. but it does have way too many bus stops to get going to the parks and coming back.. it seemed like to use to take forever to get anywhere ... but its beautiful!

We stayed there in October. We requested and received Martinique. It was a little more money but for us it was well worth it. The staff was very friendly, always stopping to say Hello. The room was clean and Mousekeeping did a good job all week long. I enjoyed hanging out on the hammocks in front of the lake with a book. I think this may be the closest I ever get to the Caribbean so I soaked up the atmosphere ;)

If you are using the bus system to get to the parks in the morning, get there in plenty of time. I don't know why but we waited a long time when we wanted to get to the MK for the rope drop. We did not make it.

There is a little party type thing in the afternoon in Old Port Royale. The CM's have a Limbo dance for the kids and give little lei type things. The little ones liked it. Old Port Royale is well staffed, CM's will stop to pin trade with the kids at the drop of a hat. There was also a table set up with CM's making towel animals. They then gave them to interested children.

I don't know how it is now, but we needed to bring towels to the quiet pool. My SIL did not know the first time sp they had to "drip" back to the room.

I liked this resort, it is big but does not really seem to be.

This is our favorite resort. I was there (again) in April and will be back in January. Not only are the rooms among the largest on property, the rooms are very quiet--so nice for afternoon napping.
