I am wondering if anyone has stayed at regal sun (formerly grosvenor) since it has been remodeled. There is a rate for a DTD mystery hotel on bookit for $69 per night which I am pretty sure is this hotel. We are looking to stay for just one night before we check into our timeshare. But old reviews have lots of bad things to say about the grosvenor, so I am a little nervous. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I'll be there in December for a couple of nights (couldn't resist the rate) and am really hoping it's OK.

I stayed there when it was the Grosvenor and I didn't mind it back then (two yrs ago) I can only imagine it's nicer now that it's renovated.
BUT When I went directly to their site I didn't like all the charges that they add: Prices listed (of course much higher than they were before) did not include taxes (12%)or resort fees of $10 a day...PLUS*Guests are asked to place a $40 per room, per night deposit upon arrival for incidentals (telephone charges, restaurant charges, etc.) That just seems too outrageous for me.

We stayed there last weekend with the same mystery rate and were not impressed. They added a Resort fee of $11 I think per night, and the buses were really spotty, they say it is 15 and 45 minutes after the hour, but really it is more like there are 3 buses an hour and when they arrive is anyones guess. Thay have a small snack bar area that is always open but REALLY expensive, I think it was about $4 for a 2L bottle of soda, and they don't list prices so you don't know until you get to the register.
I am pretty sure we were the first people to stay in our room after the remodel because the TV was not set up properly, it had no color and they only give you a dummy remote with color and volume so there was no way to fix it without calling them. Plus Saturday morning at about 7:30 a maintence man flings our door open, then says "oh, S**t there are guests in here," and he turned around and left. THe rooms were ok, about the same size as the moderates on site, but I did not realize that the first 4 or so floors are actually outdoor motel style rooms. This was nice from the standpoint that we parked right in front of our room, but their doors are really old and don't close or seal very well and it made it pretty noisy. We are NOT light sleepers, but because the doors don't close right it felt like the walls were shaking and was a huge thund when people near us closed the doors.
ALso, they claim they have high speed internet in the rooms, and they do, but it is NOT high speed, it is barely faster than my MIL's dial-up. My husband was trying to get some things done during nap time but got too frustrated after just a few minutes.
I was not impressed with the hotel, I don't see us going back unless it was a MUCH better deal. We are going back on site for our trip next month!!!

Thanks for your post...even before the renovations the rooms not in the tower were rated more poorly. Back then it was an acceptable hotel for the price you paid....I can't believe the prices they're asking for now.:scared1:

Thank you so much for your description, given this I have cancelled my reservation and selected a different hotel. I really am not comfortable with the outside doors, especially since I am traveling alone this time. Safety first!!!

Thanks again

We stayed here a few months ago while they were still undergoing renovations. We were given a room outdoors and my sister and my chin dropped when we got in. The hallway was dingy, it looked out to the loading dock for the hotel. The room itself was dirty, it smelled, I can't tell you how disappointed we were. So at 11pm at night I called and spoke with the manager. I told her we were paying way to much for this less then 2 star room. She told us she apologized and that we could move rooms first thing in the morning. She told us to leave our bags and stuff packed and we could go to the parks and bell services would take care of it. She also offered us a free character meal at the hotel and that she would be leaving a note of all this with the staff. Well I went to the desk first thing in the morning, they knew nothing of our move... tried to give me trouble but then agreed to the move into the tower. But then said we had to wait while bell services got our stuff and put it into storage because our room wasn't ready. So we missed the scheduled bus and missed the park opening which kinda ticked me off. Oh and nothing ever came of the free character breakfast either. There was construction the whole time we were there too, plastic down everywhere, fake walls set up.. it was just ick. I know now that construction is done it's much better but my opinion of this hotel is now ruined.
