I called to get ressies at Disneyland today and they told me about this motel. We have never been to California. We have stayed at the Contemporary and Dixie Landings at WDW. Does it compare to either of these? It said that it was a moderate resort so I was hoping that it was at least up to Dixie Landings. The CM promised me that to be designated as a Good Neighbor hotel it had to meet Disney standards but I thought I would get opinions from you guys. We have to pay our deposit within 10 days. Thanks for your help.

I just went down and read BetsyAnn's post about this subject. It sounds like it is nice. Anymore experiences?

The hotels along Harbor are decent and ok hotels for the most part. I wouldn't put any I have stayed at in the category of the WDW moderates, simply because of the beauty of the grounds in WDW. That can't compare to a nice hotel on Harbor, due to the nearby traffic, the closeness of the hotels to each other and the grounds being mostly parking lots. But that doesn't mean that you can't be comfortable and happy. Just don't expect the pools and grounds to be as beautiful.

I agree with the above posts comments about the area hotels/motels not being comparable to WDW. Again, not to say that Disneyland is any less great than WDW. DL and the surrounding area have some aspects which are completely unique. It is simply a different type of experience.

One thing about the DL area is there are a lot of dining options in a variety of price ranges, all within walking distance. There's also a mini-golf place.

As far as BW Park Place Inn goes, we stayed there several years ago and were very pleased with it. The room was quite large (especially for just two people), very clean and well appointed. I'd say one of the best features is that it's right across the street from DL! Very convenient after a long day at the parks.

I just got back and was very happy with this one. I will definitely stay here again. It's location for the Harbor Hotels just can't be beat, and the room was very nice. Our only complaint was that neither the alarm clock nor the wake-up calls worked

No, none of the hotels at DL can compare to any at WDW. None, with the exception of the new Grand Californian, is themed like the WDW resorts. The DL Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel have some minor themeing, but nothing that compares to WDW -- there just isn't room for the full experience you get at WDW. And none of the non-Disney resorts (meaning all the Harbor ones) are themed really at all -- no more than if you went to any other city and stayed in any other hotel. They're nice hotels, but they're just hotels. But don't let that discourage you -- the parks themselves are worth a trip, and IMHO Disneyland alone beats any *one* park at WDW. WDW just has more going for it because there are *4* parks, all of which are pretty close to the DL charm but not quite there.

Thanks guys. I like to know what I'm getting into before I get there. My father-in-law can't understand why we even want to go to Disneyland when we have already been to WDW. He says that it will be like eating hamburger when you could be eating steak. From all I have read and from what you have said it sounds like it is just a totally different experience. I can't wait to see Disneyland and California. I never thought that we would get this chance. The only way we can afford it is because we got bumped on the way to WDW(cheap tickets from where we live-SC) and the compensation is paying for our tickets to California. We are hoping to get bumped going out there too. :D :D :D
