I have booked at all star movies for april vacation, 2 adults, 2 kids ages 8 and 16. I have read so many bad reviews! And a few good ones, too. Mostly from people with toddlers. Are we going to hate it? I was last at disney 9 years ago and stayed at Embassy Suites on I-drive. It was a great hotel, but we weren't there much, and spent alot of time on the shuttle buses. So I picked to stay onsite this time, again figuring we wouldn't spend much time at the hotel, so i picked an all star resort. One review said there was poop everyday in the pools and they were closed. I hope this isn't the case. Does anyone have any advice or information that I haven't seen or thought of? Any would be helpful.

I've stayed at the all stars many times and have never had a bad stay. My most recent trip was at ASMo which is our favorite of the three. The bus service is great and while you are traveling at a very busy time you shouldn't have any problems with it. The theming of the resorts is magical and there are a lot of little details that make this resort special. Look for the dog biscuits on the path to the dalmation building and the lights in the main buildings restrooms. The food court has pretty good food and the refillable mugs are a must if you are a soda drinker.

Accidents can happen in any pool and it has to be taken care of. This can happen at 4 star hotels too. The plus side of this is that they take care of the problem imediately. The pools are nice and the main pool has squirting water which is a lot of fun.

Take a look at the resort pictures and descriptions on the main board of this site as well as www.allearsnet.com.

We stayed @ ASMo April vacation 2001 we had a great time. It we DH, myself (7 mo pregnant) DS9, DD7, DD5, DD2...we had 2 rooms and had no problems. The food court was busy but we never had troble finding a place to sit. We also never had a problem with the pools being closed.

When are you going....we will be at PC for April vacation this year 4/15- 4/25. We have 3 rooms this year...our family has expended by two since that trip!!!:hyper:

We've stayed at the all stars a number of times and always enjoyed it. Stayed at the all star movies in Dec for 8 days and had a wonderful stay. Pools were clean and active. We enjoy the all stars because it is reasonable and we're always in the parks. I'm sure you will enjoy. Have fun.

We've always stayed at ASMovies and have enjoyed it every time. The only issues to be aware of are the pool area and the food court. It seemed like both of these areas were always busy, but other than that everything was magical. The CM's have always been great at the front desk and we've never had a problem with mousekeeping. In short, you'll enjoy your trip, so breathe easy!

All Star Movies was great for the price. I'd suggestthe Toy Story Buildings. They're not one of the "preferred" buildings that WDW lists, but I found them to be only a 2 minute walk to the busses, and a heck of a lot closer than 101 dalmations, which is "prefered".

We love the Movies. We liked it better than Pop Century. Just liked the smaller set up a little better. For as much time as we spent in our room this last time, we could have stayed in a cardboard box and been happy.

We have stayed at ASMO 3x. Our trips there have been in August & Sept so we swam every day. We never found the pools closed. And even if one was, theres always another...or you can "legally" go to the pools in Music or Sports.

We also had never found the food court crowded. We ate there most mornings but pretty early. Then we would stop in on our midday breaks for snacks/lunch, and sometimes on our return at night. However on the last morning of our last stay our friends were eating later and we went to meet them before leaving. I couldnt believe how packed and crazy the food court was. Like I said, we personally never had a problem, but I do see what people are talking about when they say it gets busy. But I wouldnt go so far as to believe its always like that, because its not. :D

The theming is pure Disney, the bus service is wonderful, and CMs are helpful and friendly. I think if you know what to expect going in, you wont be disappointed.

We stayed in Dalmatians. It's not preferred. The Fantasia buidlings are preferred. I agree, though, I wouldn't pay to stay in the preferred. Definitely do Toy Story or Dalmatians.

I have stayed at the AS Movies this year and will try to give what I felt were the good and bad things about it.

Good - Loved the food court. It was never what I considered to be too busy. There were lines all of the time but the lines moved quickly. I was with my DD(7) on this trip and we ate most our meals here. My DD loved the pools. She thought the theming of the pools and the resort. I agree that the pool and theming were both fun and I can see how kids think this place is a lot of fun. Loved the price. This resort is a great deal for the money. I liked being able to stay on site for such a low price.

Not my favorite - The rooms. I felt they were very small. This was just a mother/daughter trip and I was very glad that my DH and DS were not with us. I know a lot of people really plan for best use of the small space but I found it to be too small for me. Transportation was very bad while we were here. I have read that a lot of people do not have problems with this but we waited a long time for the bus when we did try to use their transportation. We always try to use Disney transportation because we like not having to deal with the parking. We found that we drove our car a lot because we did not want to wait that long for the bus. I also did not like how crowded it was - not how many people (we were there at a very slow time) but rather how close all the buildings were. Now this can be great if you like everything close - it all is. However, I like to feel like I am not right on top of everyone when I am on vacation. Even though it was not busy, we would hear kids running up and down the halls late at night.

Wrap up - would I stay here again? Yes for a short stay where I did not want to spend too much money. No if I was going for a long time or if I could save enough to upgrade to a moderate. My DD7 says she would go here again anytime over a moderate.

Good Luck with your decision!

we have stayed at the Music like 4- 5 times. this summer was the 1st at Movies. We loved this place. We got the dalmation bldg which was close. it was me , dh, dd14 and her friend. They had a great time. food court does get busy but its not bad. They have any thing you want to eat. the pool seemed a little bigger than the music. you will love the place. go and have a great time. and if any thing comes up just go to the front desk, they are all super nice there.

My husband & I just stayed at the AllStar Movies this past November. While we found most of Disney World to be relatively uncrowded and pleasant, the hotel was kind of a zoo! I had asked for Toy Story or Dalmations (we had stayed in Dalmations on a previous trip with the kids) and were told both were full when we checked in, so we were upgraded to a "preferred" location in Fantasia 2000. While it was just a short walk to the main building, I really didn't care for the jack-in-the-box "decor" (read really ugly!) on this particular building. We were also given a connecting room and could hear a baby crying thru the connecting door most nights around two a.m. I know others have commented on the housekeeping being good, but for us, this trip, it left a lot to be desired. We had a few bugs in the room, mirrors not cleaned, floors not vacummed, etc. We were also interrupted by housekeeping early morning on several occasions...no "do not disturb" signs available. We have stayed as I said at Movies before and never had these problems, I was told the hotel was booked solid while we were there, and this was Nov 15-22, not a really busy time for Disney in general and like I said, slow most everyplace else. I stopped at All Star Sports to pick up something in their gift shop the morning we left and was amazed at how QUIET it was over there! What a difference!!! We have also stayed at All Star Music three times in the past and never had the kind of experince we had at Movies this trip. Don't get me wrong, for the price we paid (around $69 a night, including tax!), it's great to be on Disney property, get the Disney theming, the Disney "perks", etc...it's just I was a bit disappointed this time, cuz I KNOW Disney can do better!

We have stayed at All Star Movies several times. It is actually my favorite resort.
