I'll start decorating for fall next weekend. I'll put the corn up on the door, buy some big pots of mums, put out the fall flag and get out my pumpkin candles. The Halloween decorations will go up on October 1st.

LOVE the decorations, Corryn!! The costumes are really cute too! Where did you get that big cauldron? I have to get one of those!

I don't think we'll be decorating this year. Last year my roommate hung black and orange crepe paper all over the house - he even wrapped it around the toilet seat! Well it ended up staining the toilet seat orange :rotfl: It took months before we could get it off!

I haven't even figured out what I'm going to dress up as. I usually come up with something the last minute. I am a cheapskate and hate forking out $$ for some goofy outfit I'm only going to wear once :rotfl:

Not yet, but I've been thinking about it. I was sick last week otherwise I probably would have had the decorations out by now. The house needs a good cleaning so I figure I'll kill two birds with one stone and start cleaning and decorate while I'm at it.

Outside I usually just start with fall items, mums, a scarecrow or two and some cornstalks. I'll drag out the Halloween decorations in early October.

Corryn, if I may ask how did you do that for your Cauldron??

I am having a big Halloween Party and want it to be really great. That looks really cool and I think will go well with our theme!

I have been picking up things from here and there. Kmart actually had some amazing Halloween decorations that were very affordable. Cheaper then in some of the catalogs that I get in the mail!

We have our house Red White and Blue since my brother has just arrived in Iraq for his first tour along with some of our Halloween decorations lol

I usually put some pumkins out in my sun-room of my apartment around the first of October. September is way too early for Halloween decorations (imho), but I usually never wait past the first couple of days in Oct to decorate.
My town should be putting up its Fall decorations any day now.

Corryn - the house looks great! How did you make the cauldron smokey? Is that a fog machine or did you use dry ice? TIA!

I bought my first pumpkin last week and hung a maple leaf garland from my mantle. Over the next couple of weeks it will grow and grow until my house looks like a Halloween theme park! I love it I love it I love it! :goodvibes

If you look at the photo, to the left of the cauldron you can see one of the fog machines. We cut a hole in the cauldron that is even with the fog machine spout.
You know that "Disco Ball" for the pool? I got mine off Ebay for $20.00. Since the pool was closed, I borrowed it, stuck it in the bottom of the cauldron, pressed the fogger button and *viola* !

I don't know if you can see it, but in the photo of the front of my house there's a green lit pumpkin. Right by that is a grey fountain. I took the fountain that was on my back patio, brought it to the front and added lots of red food coloring - it was my Fountain of Blood.

My husband also went to Party City and purchased cheap masks, took some of his old clothes, got some strong sticks from the yard and positioned them in order to make the ghouls.

I also have a picture of something called Regurgitating Baby. That's another easy Halloween prop. If I can find the photo I'll post it. :goodvibes

Ooops, I stuck everything in the quotes

Here's Regurgitating Baby. She's about six years old - I need to make a new one!

I actually never stop "preparing" for Halloween. Every year, we set up a very elaborate "home haunt" in our front yard that inculdes sets and animatronics. Every year I add to it and that usually involves months of work building new items. Here's what I started last February and just finally got up and running last week. If you ever wanted to appreciate what the guts of a talking, blinking, nodding, tilting, rotating animatronic skull look like, here they are:

Here's an example of one in action:

:worship: :worship: :worship: That is awsome - I LOVE people that go totally nuts for Halloween!
I bought my girls costumes a few weeks ago, and I have been looking at what more to buy for decorations, but I have yet to put anything up - probally next week! Halloween is my favorite holiday!!!!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I don't decorate until October. My neighbor already has ghosts in the yard.:goodvibes

Yes my dh has started decorating and has added a 7ft coffin with a skeleton in it creaked open (like it's trying to escape) with a strobe light in it. The neighbor girl won't come in our yard because she thinks it is after her. Poor thing.

I don't decorate because, well we don't live in our own home. Other than that I love to decorate but I can't stand putting things away so it's just easier to not put the stuff out to begin with

Actually, we're not doing it. Our cat is. She's obviously found the box in the basement with the fall decorations and has been bringing them up (to play with) one at a time.

I've posted this pic before but, heck, why not since everybody else is showing off their stuff! This was my front yard last year:

Did you make that yourself or did you order it from somewhere?

Mouse House Mama, I built it myself using plans from this thread (on a home haunting site):

http://www.halloweenforum.com/halloween-props/62161-my-3-axis-skull-progress.html

The parts ran me about $130. As you'll see from the thread, the person who came up with the idea was selling kits but is sold out for the 2008 season. Even with the kit, it definitely helps to have some background in electronics to do the build. I also use a different system (than the one discussed on the thread) to program and run the skull - a stand-alone control board I got here:
