I'm looking for any wisdom of travelers with small kids. We will be in Disney for 8 nights this Oct (7th to 15th). We just returned for a 5 night stay at the beach and I told my husband upon unpacking for our stay "there is no way we can pack all of this "stuff" (nice word substituted) when we go to disney. We have three kids, ages 6, 4, and then 20mos. We are really healthy eaters, kids included, and although have purchased the dining plan, still want to take snacks like protein bars, nuts, dried fruit, pretzel bags, etc. plus the diapers, wipes, sunscreen, week usable toiletries, diposable bibs, etc. So, I was thinking that I would pack all of this "stuff" in a diaper box..you know the kind you get at Costco or whatever, and ship it down. We plan on stopping at a grocery store on the way to get milk, juice, yogurt, bread, etc. for breakfast. Has anyone done this? And, how did your box arrive and how soon did you mail it and which carrier? Thanks.

HI- I do it every trip! I mail it by UPS and get a tracking number. It is held for you at luggage assistance.

Just be sure you call the hotel directly and ask for the address for a package to be shipped and held.

I send down Tinkerbelle gifts for the kids, bowls, dry cereal and other snacks.

Just be sure to put something like: "HOLD FOR (NAME), ARRIVING (DATE)"

ON THE SIDES OF THE BOX.
I am shipping 2 boxes this time- one for food (9 of us on this next trip) and one for the special gift each night for the 4 kids.
I make sure that the things I ship are disposable and that the gifts are able to fit in the suitcases for the trip home (and once they are out of their packaging they take up a lot less space).

My boxes have always arrived in pretty good shape. You could always insure them. Just be sure that if it's something that is crucial to your vacation then don't ship it just in case it doesn't arrive (doubtful) then you won't be stuck.

We ship UPS too.

I send diapers/wipes/swim diapers, table toppers, laundry detergent/dryer sheets.

Non-perisable foods too-basically all our breakfast & snacks for the kids.

I try to ship stuff that are not coming back home with me (I do take the diapers home but the food I leave behind).

We send it so it arrived the day before we do & we track it at home to make sure it got there. I think with UPS it is normally a 3 business day shipping. I think our 30 lb box cost $15 which was well worth it.

I have my list started for my current box that I am getting ready to fill.

I pack them in my suitcase and use the remaining space for souvies! It's cheaper than shipping a box, and it is with me when I am off the plane. :cool1:

My family usually send a package down for our Thanksgiving trip each year. We use UPS and give the package two/three days for delivery.
