Has anyone seen "The Ring"?

I rented it on DVD and watched it with DH last night. It was kind of cool, but I didn't think it was as scary as I expected.

Mid way through the movie my phone rang. It did make my husband and I laugh though. It was my sister. I told her what we were watching and she told me that some of her friends told her they were so scared by the movie they had to watch another movie right after to get it out of their heads.

I wasn't scared by it. Blair Witch didn't scare me either. What did you think about it?

I thought The Ring was lame. However, Blair Witch was, well scary isn't the exact word, tense...yeah, tense. The end was INtense.

i haven't seen the ring, but i literally laughed my way through blair witch, except for the last 5 minutes.

The Blair Witch reminded me of an old "B" movie, very lame.

The Ring on the other hand...while it didn't "scare" me, it was very suspenseful and just plain creepy! I liked it and have watched it 3 times.

I do have to say that every time that nail poked through that finger, I did get freaked out a bit. More in a gross way than a scared way though.

I agree that The Ring was lame. I kept hearing from friends and neighbors how scary it was. At the beginning, it looked promising, but then...  The end was totally ridiculous, IMO.

<font color=navy>I didn't watch it, but my kids watched it in English & Japanese (& they don't speak Japanese).

My dd watched it with a bunch of friends, and during the movie, one of the boys called the house from a cell phone and slowly said, "7 days" -- freaked out the girl watching it.

They said it was okay - creepy.

Blair Witch was - in my opinion - the dumbest scary movie I ever saw.

The scariest most recent movie I saw was Jeepers Creepers at the theater - not the same watching it at home. My dd came out w/goosebumps after watching it at the theater.

my sister gets scared very easy and it didn't scare her, but some male friends of my brothers had to leave the theater part way in because they were too scared, and they say they don't scare easy, so I don't know. It didn't scare me, but Ghost Ship really freaked me out. The only movies that scare me are like that, trapped on a boat in the middle of the ocean with demons or ghosts or something coming after them and they are trapped.

Oh, Jeepers Creepers did freak me out a bit, did you know there is a sequel coming out.

I thought The Ring was pretty creepy, but more in a psychological way than anything else. It gets you thinking and wondering about whether something that bizarre could really happen, and that's what really got me. And the way the woman in the video would look RIGHT AT YOU! Eeeek! I'm not so sure it would have had the same effect, though, if I had seen it on my TV at home... But, you have to admit that the scene where the little girl emerges from the well made your skin crawl, even just a little bit

I liked The Ring. It didn't SCARE me, but I thought it was interesting and creepy and fun to watch.

Does anyone have the DVD? Did anyone watch the thing that says "Don't Watch This"? I won't watch it. My friends won't watch it. Anyone here watch it?

I watched the "don't watch this" section. It was sort of material that didn't make the movie. In some ways it explained it more to me.

I didn't get to see it on DVD because when we rented it all the DVDs were gone so I had to get it on VHS. I didn't really think it was scarey like Freddy Kruger or Poltergiest scarey. We watched it around midnight while we were in bed before we went to sleep. It didn't really scare me, but it was just those disturbing images...especially the one with the girl coming out of the well. I kept seeing her every time I closed my eyes and I couldn't get to sleep that night.

Blair Witch didn't scare me at all either...the second one was a little better at scaring you but it still pretty much sucked. I liked Ghost Ship, that was a pretty good movie.

I thought Darkness Falls was pretty stupid and I heard a lot of good things about it. I guess it just depends on what scares you.

I needed my DH to explain the end to me..sometimes I can't figure out the obvious!

I loved the part (The Ring) at the end when Rachel is laying down besides her little boy, you think the movie is just about done, and she's telling him everything would be okay that she helped the little girl and he says "you weren't supposed to help her....she never sleeps!"

I want to read the book now.

I had watched it with a group of friends and they decided to turn the lights off and everything. I'm not a big fan of scary movies but I just had to see what it was. It was freaky cause someone had made a call to the apt. and we all freaked. I thought that the ending wasn't that good and was kind of long but it was still kinda freaky. We all figured we needed to get some other people to watch it with us again so that it didn't get us.

I thought it was a good movie. The Ring video itself is pretty creepy.

I watched the "Don't Watch This" section of the DVD. It was pretty cool. Kind of an extended version of The Ring video with some other added stuff. Watch it.

I thought "The Ring" was pretty creepy, but not as scary as they said it was.

I actually was terrified during the "Blair Witch Project" because I didn't know it was fake when I saw it. I actually believed (gullible I guess) it really happened. It freaked me out. Once I found out it was fake, it never scared me again.

haven't got the nerve to watch it yet but I loved blair witch 2

Im hoping they make blair witch 3 which would be the prequel, and show how everything went mad.

Since many people here watched the "Don't Watch This" thing and lived to tell, I'll watch it tonight.

Also...someone here mentioned Ghost Ship, so I rented it last night. Someone should have warned me that it was gross, but the movie was really good. I wouldn't even walk to the bathroom by myself, I had to turn all the lights on and make my husband walk me there and stand outside and walk me back. It was good though...good story....good ending...very interesting.

Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for Ghost Ship!

I didn't find this movie scary in the traditional sense but it definitely did stick with me for a few days. I did some searching on the internet because I still had questions once it was over and I found a very interesting site that interprets it all pretty well. I was not sure if they were saying she was artifically inseminated which didn't make sense but on this site they actually translated the paper that had the Chinese figures on it and it was for some type of herbal medicine. So the theory is that that baby is born of very unnatural sources and is therefore evil. I found the more I read about it the more I couldn't get it out of my head so I stopped looking.

I really thought the ending was great. You think it is pretty much over only to find out that there is a twist. I did some slow motion on the DVD to see the dead faces and on the images on the tape and that was pretty cool. People were theorizing all over that they made them look like they had drowned or this and that and I thought it was funny the make-up guy basically said nope they just wanted to make them look scary as heck.

We did the same thing...it goes so fast that you miss all the frames. Playing it in slow motion gives you a better view of what they are seeing right before they die.

I often wondered where Samara came from....and thought maybe she was adopted. That's why I want to read the book, for a better understanding of it all. She sure was one wicked child!

All I can say is, they better not have hurt that horse that jumped the ferry. I kept waiting at the end during the credits for "no animals were harmed in making this film." If it was there, I missed it.
