We live in the pizza capital of Canada. My family has won many awards, including dad's sauce. Pizza is in my blood...
He uses mutliple kinds of tomatoes in all of his homemade sauces - he does a meat sauce for pasta and tomato sauce for veal, and pizza sauce for pizza. Not sure what kind of high quality ingredients Disney will be using, but I'm sure they'll be San Marzano tomatoes, which dad says are not the best. After 50 years of making pizzas, he knows his ingredients. San Marzano is a popular brand, but not the best. He just received some new tomatoes from California this week, and the difference was amazing! His sauce is incredible as is, but during our taste test, we all could taste the difference, and asked what it was?
Regarding cheese and spring water, he just lauged at this as well. The cheese my family uses is super expensive, and they don't use spring water either, imagine that? And they have won best dough many times. He says that's just a marketing ploy. They are throwing around brands that the average guest won't have any idea about, so they'll pay those prices, but for people in the business, they know there are better quality ingredients out there. Silly Disney! Disney's idea of high-end expensive, I'm sure won't be what the rest of us consider expensive. They need to make profits, so that's what is going to drive the pizza ingredients, I'm pretty certain of that.
The prices are crazy, but it's Disney. I don't expect anything fantastic from Napoli either. We won't be ordering any of those items - not only expensive, but U.S. sizes. Our Canadian sizes of pizza are bigger, so those are smaller pizzas than what dad cooks, so they are even more expensive.
I showed dad the prices and he just laughed, and said he's surprised it took them so long to do this, and why didn't they call him? LOL!
