last to see it at the local drive in. DD loved it . I felt it was no where near as good as Sherk ( also Dreamworks) but still quite enjoyable. There was no swearing ( that I remember) and no overly scary parts.
We just got back about an hour ago. We took DS(10) and DS(2). Both of the boys really enjoyed it - I thought it was just Okay. It isn't NEAR as good as Shrek, but I am sure your son will enjoy it.
I guess when you hear it in those terms it does seems harsh, but when you are watching it I wasn't thinking in those terms. The "murder" was where an anchor fell on top of a shark that was chasing a fish and the shark dies....no blood, nothing, he just stops moving. The "kidnapping" is a fishnapping and you don't see her being taken, but you do know that she is held against her will.
With that said, it was a cute movie, DS (8) loved it...he gave it two thumbs up. The animation was colorful and cute, Will Smith's character was great, there was some good music, but with all of that, it was still missing something for this thirty-something mom. It wasn't as great as Finding Nemo or the first Shrek, but it was cute. There were a few moments throughout where you laughed out loud and on the whole I think all the kids in the audience enjoyed it. If you have elementary school kids, I am sure they will love it. DS already can't wait for it to come out on DVD.
We saw it at the drive in last night. From what I saw it was really cute. But, I spent most of my evening following DS3 while he endlessly changed his mind about watching from in the van or outside on a blanket. It was something nice we could do as a family.
