Has anyone seen 8 Mile? If so.....

My husband and I just saw it last night. I wanted to see it because I lived in Detroit from birth to age 12 and have lived in the Metro-Detroit area ever since. I wanted to see how Detroit was portrayed as well as any familiar landmarks that were in it.

Back to the question, NO. We also have a 14 and-a-half year old daughter and she will not be allowed to see it. I do think that it would be okay for a 16 or 17 year old, however. I have seen MUCH WORSE movies that were rated R.

We both enjoyed the movie and felt that Eminem is a decent actor.

kd and pw: Thanks for your replies. DH and I have decided that she won't be seeing this movie anytime soon. I did ask her today why she wanted to see it and she said because she likes his music and when asked what she liked it about it said that "he's cool that he came from an abusive background but actually made something of his life". A good response, I thought, although I explained that I can appreciate that, I still felt that some of the content was inappropriate for her. She acquiesced.:)
