I'm all set for the Princess 1/2 marathon...and my teammate is my husband. He's convinced he'll be the only guy on the course. :scared1: I was just wondering if anyone here has run the Princess 1/2 with a Prince?

My husband was looking at the registration and wondered if the guys receive womens tech tees as well! He was also hard pressed to pick which Princess is his favorite!

I promised him we'd run the Donald in 2011! Much more manly!!

We did it last year and yes, he got a ladies tee-- have your DH ask for your size when he registers because I can pretty much guarantee he won't want to wear it.:rotfl: There were not too many guys-- roughly 200 in a filed of 6,000 women but there were other guys. It was a nice race--- same course as the WDW half in Jan with princess themed trivia and lots of characters, mostly princesses with their princes. DH did have a good time and he and Thunder Matt(another WISHer) were talking before the race in the corrals and mentioned how tall they both suddenly felt being surrounded by women. I saw a few slightly scary guys running dressed as princesses themselves :scared1: Overall we both had a really nice time and would recommend the race, a prince might feel a bit out of place but is certainly allowed to run and won't be completely without other men.

I want to do this race too and my DH is my partner as well. I was trying to figure out how to convince him it's ok that it's mainly women. Knowing there may be approx. 200 others in his shoes may help!

Thanks for the tip on the shirt sizing! :rotfl: I don't mind two shirts! We wanted to do the Donald but there was a registration mess up with the team "organizer" and our stuff wasn't sent in in time:sad1: I really wanted that Donald medal let me tell you!! But I think the Princess 1/2 will be just as fun! My husband will be very glad to know there are other guys in the race so he won't be totally testosterone deprived! I'll buy him a VERY manly Under Armour race shirt...he'll feel tough amongst all the femininity!!! He will NOT dress up in Princess drag...although the idea of seeing guys dressed up as princesses gives me even more motivation!

thanks for the info!!!

:goodvibes

This past year there was around 6000 women runners and 200 men runners. Some wearing the logo shirt and most were cross dressers.:scared1:
It was fun and hey it's Disney!:goodvibes

My husband will most definitely NOT be crossing dressing...he's from the wilds of Upstate New York and doesn't have that "hey it's fun to dress like a princess b/c it's Disney easy going" vibe thing. :rotfl: he likes to hunt things...and chop things down...and wear plaid and big boots...;)

he's going to want a manly tech shirt...

My hubs is a good guy...he's willing to run with me and I think it's going to be A LOT of fun!!!

I'll see if I can talk him into a tiara...

:rotfl:

Did the men's bib numbers say "Prince __" on them instead of princess?

It's a bummer they don't let the men get a men's tshirt though!

You made me :rotfl: at the "VERY manly Under Armour race shirt...he'll feel tough amongst all the femininity!!!" as I wear MENS UA shirts for races!!!!:lmao:

I did this last year and had a good time. He can also brag to others that he had X thousand women chasing him for a while as well. I don't think the bibs had Princess on them but the did have the name of the favorite princess we we selected when registering.

I heard last year there were about 200 male participants for the Princess. This year I personally know several men who are running the race primarily because they like the odds of being 200 among 6000! :cool1: Hubby is going to be in good company!

OK, what am I missing here? Having a race with 6000 women and only 200 men is a dream come true. :lmao:

enjoy,
Duane

i'm running it with my dad this year, but he kind of got cornered into it. i originally signed up to do it with my friend, and when my mom got wind of it she wanted to do it too. and my dad will be in the height of his boston marathon training at that point so the timing worked well for him, and regardless, his runner's ego would never let him be a spectator at a road race that the rest of us are doing ha. he's being a good sport about it, but i can tell he's less-than-thrilled about the whole princess theme.
