The seat is molded with a substantial cone between the legs. The bar is a robust piece of metal with a nice large pad that smoothly presses down on the top of the thighs. There are no clicks - it just presses down until you’re secure. So - no unnecessary wiggle room. That said, there certainly is a lot of air time!
If you love coasters, this one is worth the wait! If you’re on the fence, try Hagrid’s first. Hagrid’s is just as fun, but a little less scary/extreme. Most of our family prefers Hagrid’s, but we all loved Velocicoaster too!

but I heard you get a lot of air time and there being no shoulder restraints and all....I'd love to get a first hand experience from someone who rode with a young child and how it went. Thanks!
