has anyone rented a camper

We are regular RV renters at the Fort. We have rented from MyRVHotel, Greenberg, and FloridaCamper Rentals. I will give Pros/Cons.

My RVHotel:
Pros:
Stocked with everything! It helps so much to have plastic bags, a little coffee and not have to run the Meadow Trading Post for a strip of 4.95 aluminum foil.

Doesn't randomly show up to check on things (text works great for me, thanks)

Lots of towels! Oh man, this was my first rental and I kept showing up with hardly any towels because we were spoiled with MyRVHotel.

Came with a golf cart.

Lots of extras! A grill, decorations outside, lots of chairs.

Cons:
Worn a bit, obvious rental

Ants came into the trailer, and we could not get rid of them. We thought we had a handle on it and then the Babysitting service called us freaked out. I didn't call and complain or anything, just something that sticks out as why my husband doesn't want to rent from them again.

Golf cart was a bit worn

Greenberg
Pros:
New RV
Very nice to do business with

Cons:
No golf cart rentals available/ had to deal with another company
No amenities (aluminum foil, salt/pepper, etc)

Florida Camper Rentals
Pros:
Nice, new RV
Nice golf cart

Cons:
A bit overbearing for my taste, DH was cool with it though
Not a lot of towels or extras (a grill or bags/aluminum foil/etc)

All were actually great to do business with and had everything setup and ready with cold AC blowing as promised. You REALLY can't ask for more than that so we will probably rent from all of them again (unless DH FINALLY CAVES ON A FIFTH WHEEL :rotfl2:)

Thanks for breaking down the pro/con list of rentals...we are renting from myrvhotel next April and hadn't seen a lot of discussion about them anywhere.

I was curious, had you ever had someone just randomly stop by when you were renting an RV? That was actually a concern of mine when choosing a rental company, that's the last thing we would want when trying to relax on vacation.

Does anyone know of a company that rents small campers or pop-ups? There are just two of us, 3 maybe if my daughter comes with us. I'm not looking for any of those giant campers that sleep 8 or 10, I was just thinking about something small. I've always wanted to experience Fort Wilderness.

Fort Camper Rental

You can see the pop-ups on their site. They seem to be pretty heavily booked, as there are only 5 rental campers, so I would advise to give them a call soon.

We rented from Greenberg last December - great experience, very nice camper, and we rented a golf cart from them, too. No complaints at all - and good customer service.

joining, hoping there are more posts.

I am contemplating doing this, but my husband has no desire, but will for me.
I had read a write up with I think Florida Camper. He responded right away, talked to him, very nice answered all my questions. Had availability for what I wanted. Called back, I think two months later for this September(that was a month or so ago) and what I wanted is booked, so now I am not sure.

We got an awesome deal with the Dolphin as a group rate for $172 a night,(but we need two rooms/night) so you can see why my husband doesn't care to. I wanted to do a split. We have 11 nights. I would do the camper first and then the Dolphin. But now that that deal fell through I have cold feet, especially since I have the whole thing reserved at the Dolphin for a safety measure.

I don't think we will be back for at least five years or maybe longer, so I wanted to experience the Fort, but I don't want to give up such a deal for the Dolphin either. Hence the split.

we used to always camp in our tiny pop up but we sort of out grew it. in July we are renting a travel trailer from Meacham's RV. they have fort wilderness packages that include a golf cart. I can only judge them from my experience thus far, but so far so good. nothing yet to make me think the experience will go poorly.

edited to add - you can find them on the bbb site, but note they are not registered with bbb so they don't have a rating. you can however search them on trip advisor and although they don't come up on their own, they come up in relation to people mentioning them in rating campgrounds where they have use a Meacham's rv rental. over all, quite good reviews.

:thumbsup2 for Greenberg

We have rented from Greenberg twice. Both times Matt went above and beyond.

We are considering renting an TTfor our fall trip. The problem is our son has severe allergies and smoke and pet hair would trigger him into a horrible attack. Does anyone have any suggestions of a company that does both smoke and pet free rentals? I contacted Greenberg and they are only smoke free.

I really like Fort Camper Rental. They were great last summer and we're going again in October. Last summer we were there when a tropical storm hit and we didn't have any leaking issues or anything. The areas around our campsite looked like we were lake camping :rotfl2:

Glad to hear you liked Fort Camper Rental and are using them again . We just booked a stay with them for the weekend before Christmas for our 1st Fort stay and are very excited.
