Has anyone renewed annual pass from Platinum Plus to Gold?

Our AP is expiring in May and we have a trip in July. I was originally planning to just buy our 8 day ticket, but after pricing, its actually cheaper to renew down to the Gold Pass, and then have an annual pass still (and of course potentially plan more trips). Is there any disadvantage to this? I know there are some blockout dates and no waterparks, but is that it? Thanks!

We’ve done this a couple times. It had to be done over the phone I think. No downsides except the black out dates!

I renewed/downgraded with tix at park last August

Remember, if your travel plans change, you can always upgrade later

We are planning to do the same! My only concern is if there are additional blackout dates for next year. Has anyone seen the 2020 blackout dates? Or does it usually remain spring break and Christmas time?

I doubt they will add blockout dates to the Gold Pass. Since it's inception, they've always been the week before & after Easter and the last half of December (including New Years Day).

We downgraded, but expect to upgrade on our next trip, we miss the water park option, as we added more trips.

We downgraded from Platinum Plus to Platinum. Had to do it over the phone, as the online renewal option was only for our current level. I miss the access to Oak Trail Golf Course though, so will likely re-upgrade next year.

Unless you need the Christmas/Easter option, it appears to be cheaper buying a standalone water park AP (~$138) vs the $220+ upgrade from gold to PP AP.

We will be downgrading from the Platinum Plus to Gold in 1 month.
Good to know that I have to call.

Thank you. This calendar year we will not be in WDW for the days before NYE, SO, NO, we do not need the restricted dates.
Again, thank you very much! DH is happy for the saving as well.
