Has anyone recently used FP+ for Wishes Fireworks viewing?

Yeah, I wish we could get to one of those 2 CR locations but can't. I'm thinking the 4th floor at CR probably isn't high enough.

I'm leaning toward the TTC on Robo's advice. I'm not sure if I'd like the offcenter view from the GF. Has Franklin shot from there?
Nope, no photos. We only saw it in passing one night at GF. I'm with Robo, TTC may be your best bet. Are you not going to be in the park at all?

We have one park day and one non-park day. I was hoping to shoot it both ways.

It turns out that my days for FP selection were available this morning when I happened to go in to MDE. According to my calculations, and other count downs, I thought my window would open tomorrow, or at 1 am tonight. Our check in is June 5th, and I was coming up with April 6th for my 60 day mark. Anyway, glad I checked this morning before I left. However, I wasn't prepared with what FP's to select, and was planning on figuring all that out tonight. I did decide to skip the one for Wishes, based on the comments here. All FPs's were available this morning, around 9:00 central.....except for A&E. It's too bad that Disney built these wonderful areas for viewing, and then give out way too many FP's. Hopefully, we'll find a good spot without that FP.

1. Are the lights from the TTC distracting?

2. Or can you get far enough down to avoid that?

3. Is there any beach area accessible there?

1. Not so much.
2. Yup.
3. Yes.

Here's a photo of the MK fireworks taken from the TTC.

TTC looks like a great option! Leave the park, watch the show, beat all the crowds out.

Thanks so much Robo. I think that's what we'll do. I had a lovely time at the Poly a couple years ago when we did this, but my focus was slightly off on my fireworks shots. I'm hoping for better results this time. :) And that is precisely the sort of shot I'm after.

NOTE TO SELF: Remember to turn off the image stabilization when using the tripod this time.

Okay, you guys pimping the TTC as a good Wishes viewing spot, please rate from 1 to 10 (10 being the very best) watching Wishes from the TTC and watching it from the part of the park where the FP+ currently stands. Reason is I currently have a FP+ for Wishes and I don't feel like changing everything around. I am just referring to view/music/ambiance not how crowded the spots are.

I've only watched from the Poly but the view will be similar. It's a different experience. You won't feel as connected to what is going on and will miss the castle projection show. But it was quite awesome to watch with just a few other people around. Not sure how crowded it will be at the TTC. That time of night, probably not too bad.

We're looking to watch from both inside and outside the park on this trip. I would not want to choose outside the park over inside the park.

If you don't care about the projection show, it can be nice to watch from behind the castle with fireworks going off all around you amid smaller crowds.

In the park from the angle of the new FP+ viewing areas is ideal.
That's the sweet spot from which (and to which) the show was choreographed.
And, the audio in those areas will be great!

Virtually every show has a focus-point. The spot where the producers/directors sat/stood
when the show was being built. Where everything was aimed and timed and perfected.
The spot-on place for Wishes (and other MK fireworks shows) would be in the middle of Main Street, basically right between the new FP+ areas.

That's the central green-shaded area on the map below.

We did the wishes FP for the night before Easter. We chose the fast pass area closer to tomorrowland. I was one of the ones thinking any fast pass for fireworks or parades would be pointless and stupid. But it was really nice. Showed up about 20 minutes before the show starter and there was plenty of room. It was nowhere near packed in and crammed like I've seen talks of.

We went in the section and went to the back railing of the area to be able to sit on the railing for the show. A lot of people were laying down and sitting on the turf prior to show. But about 10 minutes before show started a CM shouted out that everyone needed to stand and make enough room for everyone. They also told us that when we entered with the FP, "just to let you know that once the show starts it'll be standing room only".

They clearly didn't know how many people would be showing up as there wound up being more than enough room. I strongly disagree with their standing room only view. They need to just have everyone fill in to one side and everyone sit.

It was a great view and way better than having to hold down a spot for as long as some people do on main street. I'd recommend using it as a FP if you don't mind using it on something else

We're doing FP for Wishes after a day at Animal Kingdom. That only gives us three at MK to play around with (well.. two after Wishes), but I'm hoping it saves us a little peace of mind from having to camp out in a spot and fight to keep people from jumping in front of us.

I can't see giving up a FP during a full MK day though.

^ that's what we did. Animal kingdom in the morning, then hopped to HS, back to hotel, then MK at night. First FP of the day was for wishes. Then pirates at 10:25, then big thunder at 11:25.

Has the FP+ Wishes viewing area changed? Last year, it was sort of over by the Ice Cream Parlour and the Tomorrowland noodle place that's never open.

We watched from there last May, and it was wonderful. We all sat in the grass. Our son laid down. It wasn't really crowded at all. Plan on getting FPs for it this year, too, unless this changed significantly.

Yes, that area is now gone.
It is now in the area in front of Casey's and in front of the Ice Cream Parlor.
It's new construction and was not there last year. If you look in Robo's maps linked in this thread you can see the new area.

Wow - compared the map from last year to the map from today, and it looks like a lot changed, including filling in most of the lower part of the moat!

I still think we'll be booking this, since we always tend to arrive later than others, and can't stand trying to force myself past the masking tape line to avoid getting yelled at :)

Thanks!

Thank you. This is what many of us are looking for to help us decide whether to use a FP for it or not. Kind of a mixed report: not that crowded but still being asked (forced?) to stand. Did everyone stand or, since it was not packed, did some stay sitting on the grass?
