Has anyone recently used FP+ for Wishes Fireworks viewing?

So tomorrow night (midnight central) is when I will be able to schedule our FP's for the MK & AK portion of our split stay. I'm torn about whether or not to use a FP+ for Wishes. When the new FP+ areas first opened, they had some pretty wide open spaces. However, I'm thinking as time goes by, it will become more popular. I'm interested to hear some recent experiences from those that have used it this week during the Easter crowds. How crowded was it inside the FP viewing areas?

Thanks so much for your help.

I would like to know this too! We used it in the past and enjoyed it. I am also wondering what the new area is like. :)

Have a great trip.

Standing room only? I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. What if we have an ECV? Can they go in these areas? Would we be better off in a different area? This will be our 1st trip where we'll need an ECV, and we're not quite sure of the ins and outs. Was really hoping that the Wishes FP+ viewing areas would have room enough that everyone wouldn't need to stand.

1. What if we have an ECV?

2. Can they go in these areas?

1. That can be a problem.
2. Yes. BUT...
3. Those in a chair have not been able to see very well.
4. As of this week, it looks like the FP+ area is not the place to be.
Will that change?
Maybe.
All you can do is stay tuned.

Booking a FP+ that late in the day can be limiting as others can't be booked until it is used.

I'm hoping to see some actual first hand experiences in this thread as well.

Have things become that bad that we need to FP the fireworks? I mean that's just absurd. I think that should just go to the same way it used to be: if you want a desired spot, you claim it and wait for them to begin. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I just don't think I will ever FP fireworks. If it's that bad in the park, I"ll view them from the Poly instead.

All the construction plus the added DVC bungalows on the water have kind of ruined Poly's fireworks viewing, there was a thread a few days ago about it. You might want to seek it out before committing to the Poly being the better/easier spot.

We've always enjoyed Wishes from the train platform at the front of Main Street and thought the view was excellent. Not to mention there are seats. Besides, if you use one of your FP's for Wishes doesn't that mean you can't get any more during the day after you've used your first two?

No, by not means is it needed. You can indeed claim your spot and watch. What the viewing area does is eliminate the need to claim your spot quite as early. With the FP you know you will get in the area which has an excellent view. You'll still have to stand but for those who don't want to just sit and wait for Wishes to begin it is a nice alternative. But not necessary.

1. I, personally, don't enjoy Wishes from there, as they leave the bright lights illuminated on the buildings at the south end of Main St. (and in the train station balcony) so the lights are in your eyes during the show.

2. Maybe. There are only a few seats available. Many guests who view from there must stand.

ALSO... The train station is a really poor place to try to watch Celebrate the Magic, the spectacular "castle projection show"
that starts 15 minutes before Wishes.

3. Yes.

If I were booking FP+ tomorrow night I would pick something other than Wishes. Reports on the boards seem to indicate lots of Wishes FP+ have been added to the pool. I would wait until later and then maybe switch a FP+ to Wishes based on what experiences others are reporting. Of course it may not be available for a swap, but for now odds seem favorable it will be available.

I would also see what the crowd calendars say for that day to judge how busy the parks will be, which may influence the number of people potentially reserving a Wishes FP.

I have a Wishes FP for 4/23 that I'm keeping just to try it out. I was disappointed to hear that it could be very crowded in there, but I'm trying it anyway since we have 3 MK days in this trip.

Hey Missy. Has Franklin shot Wishes from outside the park since they messed things up at the Poly?

I'm sort of torn between the 4th floor deck at CR and the TTC. I want to balance my desire for nice shots with DD and DH's desire for a nice experience.

It's a shame about the Poly. It really was perfect for both sides of that equation.

Just go to TTC.

Great audio.
Great angle.
Great photos & video shots.

Are the lights from the TTC distracting?

Or can you get far enough down to avoid that?

Is there any beach area accessible there?

Only from Cali Grill or Top of the World Lounge at BLT. The boat dock from GF is a really pretty view and there's the music (at least there was in August when we were waling back to our room).

Yeah, I wish we could get to one of those 2 CR locations but can't. I'm thinking the 4th floor at CR probably isn't high enough.

I'm leaning toward the TTC on Robo's advice. I'm not sure if I'd like the offcenter view from the GF. Has Franklin shot from there?
