I’m wondering if anyone who received AZ/mRNA has received a third dose. If so, please share your experiences (ie., how you got it; how you felt afterwards).

Yes, I have. First dose AZ, second and third were Moderna. Has some soreness around the injection site and a slight headache after the first two doses, but felt completely fine after the third dose.

Did you get your third shot in Canada or in the US?

I had my third dose about 3 weeks ago. I had AZ in April and Pfizer in June. Manitoba started offering third doses to immunocompromised people and people like me who might need a third dose for travel purposes in September, In order to get a third dose for travel you needed to get a prescription from your doctor, I assume to make sure they don't have any concerns about your getting a third dose. I called my doctor and she didn't know what I was talking about (lol) so I asked the pharmacy to send her something to sign and she did after asking me a few questions about how I was doing health wise. My shot was fine, I felt very fatigued the next day and I was kind of achy all over, but the next day I woke up feeling 100%. No sore arm or anything. My husband got his third shot last week and basically had the same experience.

I had a 3rd dose. I'm from Ontario, but went to Montreal to get it. Symptoms were a bit worse than my 1st shot of Moderna and lasted a few days, but well worth it as we're heading out on a cruise in a couple of weeks.

So no issues with being an Ontario resident? I’m not too far from Montreal. If I knew the path would be clear and I didn’t need to do anything nefarious, I’d consider making the drive.

Had my 3rd dose yesterday (AZ/Moderna/Moderna) and it feels pretty much the same as the second -- a little bit of arm soreness and a bit tired but nothing else. I'm in Ontario and to get a 3rd dose I needed a letter from my doctor stating the meds I take for Arthritis make it recommended to have the 3rd dose. They did ask lots of questions to verify dr's letter so I think they're being pretty strict about it.

After the 1st two doses they sent a pdf vaccine receipt by email but for the last one they sent a time limited link (good for 1 week) that requires you to log onto their site with your health card number. I guess they're changing things up with the new proof of vaccine app they're building.

My elderly mother got a Pfizer booster in the US. She said it was just like her previous 2 shots - some arm soreness and a slight low-grade fever for a few hours. She called it a non-issue. I'm very glad she was able to get it based on her age and health.

My brother lives in Alberta and he was able to get the third shot. Because his first was AZ.

I'm in Alberta and got my third (AZ/Pf/Pf) the day they opened it up for those who first received AZ. I actually felt worse than after my first Pf. On and off flu-ey for about a week.
I did NOT complain though as I am thrilled that we were allowed to get it here in AB. Just got back from 11 days on Oahu and that would not have been possible with a mixed dose.
I think it is criminal that the decision to offer the 3rd dose is being decided at the provincial level (although yes, I know that control over vaccines has been provincial since the beginning). It is 0% fair.

I thought you had to be a resident in the province. I may take a weekend trip if it isn't necessary

I had 2 aunts and a friend get an extra Pfizer dose because they had the AZ/Pfizer combo in Alberta. No issues. (the friend got the extra dose after she recovered from Covid... she hopes to have super immunity now :P She doesn't want to go through that again)

Hahahaha I say the same thing. I had my first shot - AZ , then a little bit more than a week later, contracted covid, and then second shot Pfizer. I should have lots of covid cooties floating around in my system. I was lucky to not get seriously sick. I didn't feel great while sick with it.

We were sitting tight to see what the boarder guidelines will be for mixed vaccinations. If need be, we will get an extra shot to be able to travel...but with out booster shot due in December - we should be good to travel in February.

OP here. Thanks for all the responses. I'm in the US now and I'm debating whether I should get a third dose here so I'll have two Pfizers. Has any Canadian received a third dose in the US?

I had originally been told you had to live or work in Quebec to get the 3rd dose for travel, but after some acquaintances went and got it, I tried myself. I went to the Montreal convention centre. One person I know of was turned away recently, so I don't know if they are tightening up, or whether his travel date was too far in the future. Don't lie, just tell them that you are there from Ontario to get a 3rd dose for travel. They will ask for ID. Bring copies of your other doses from Ontario as they will enter that information into their database. It was very simple.

A friend from BC is currently in BC visiting family. His wife and daughter got their third shot there today by simply giving the postal code of the place they were staying.

Uh, I'd love to know where they went to get them. So far only HCW and immunocompromised people are supposed to be getting their third dose here
