Has anyone purchased the Mickey head fans / programs??

If you do make them yourself, I always thought it would be nice to put a bow at the top between the ears for a "Minnie Fan"- we even brought it up to Shelly. You could have Minnie & Mickey fans!
I hope everythign works out.

That's such a great suggestion! I'll be making my own fans too and I'd like to do that. I won't be able to assemble my fans for another six weeks or so until I confirm everything with the officiant. Tim Herring is performing our ceremony and he said he doesn't discuss details until about ten days before the wedding. That way it stays fresh in everyone's minds, especially his since he performs a lot of them every month.

I lost my template. I am freaking out here. Can you tell me where you found yours? I really don't want to cut and paste everyone again. We are using Rev Tim also. You will love him. He did my parents vow renewal.

I'm still working on my t-shirt design (almost done! :yay: ) and unity candle, so I've only thought about the Mickey head invitation and not actually done anything yet. I might have something in about a week. I don't have a template yet, but I don't think it'll be too hard. I might make my own template since it's just three circles in the right proportions and location.

In your case where you're pasting them onto a template and then photocopying it onto your cardstock, I was thinking it'd be easy to make it a 12" x 12" scrapbook paper size (or any size you want) rather than restricting it to the usual 8.5" x 11". In the meantime, I saw a large mickey head on the DISign board:

Since I promised everyone my template and I can't seem to scan it. I decided to show you step by step how I made mine.

First trace Mickey head ( I used the sample fan I got in the mail)

Then on Word type up the info you would like for each section. I used Cosmic Sams font and size 8 font.

Then cut the text to fit in each section. Make sure that you tape all of the edges to keep from getting black lines.

Do the same with the front design you would like. Mine my brother made on Powerpoint. I just centered it on a regular piece of computer paper and the spacing was prefect.

I then just ran it through my copier onto white cardstock.

Then cut each side out. I use double sided tape to put the stick on and tape the 2 sides together.

Add ribbon to the bottom. If you would like Minnie ones, punch 2 holes in center top and run ribbon through.

The sticks i purchased at Hobby Lobby .99 for 12.
The text isn't really clear because my printer cartridge was running out.

I hope this helps someone.

What an awesome job you have done!
Thank you so much for sharing the steps and posting the pictures that accompany each step.
Many thanks!!
Jill

Thanks, Laura!!! Do you think you could ask your borther how to do the font over top of font on Powerpoint? I am fairly good with PP, but I can't ever get the font over top thing to work. Thanks :)

He says he can't discribe it, but if you give a few ideas of what you want, he will make a few up.

I love these fans. I am also planning to make these for my wedding but was struggling with finding the sticks to put them on.

I looked at Micheals here and was unable to find anything so I ended up ordering them off ebay. I just thought I would let everyone know that if you search "fan sticks" on ebay there's a listing where you are able to order 40 for about $10 US. I just got mine and they are exactly what I wanted.

Thanks so much for the step-by-step Laura :goodvibes I'm going to *try* to do them this weekend! I'll let you know how it goes :cutie:

that is such a super cute wedding program and a fan. Does anyone know how you would be able to use that same design but as your wedding invitation?

Maybe instead on the back put your wedding annoucement and a response card in the shape of mickey ears also?

That would be pretty simple. Just put whatever wording in the center part (say your invitation). Then I would use maybe a business card for the response card. You could actually cut 4 little slits and then could slide it out and return it. You could even put it in a small envelope. That really sounds like a fun idea.

Sorry I didn't jump on earlier with this thread, but I have a template with the Mickey Ears and text boxes. You'll have to do your own carriage returns to ensure you aren't typing outside the Mickey Head, but it's all in Word format. I'll email it to those who had previously asked princessdisneybelle for it.

princessdisneybelle - let me know if you'd like it too. Just for future reference.

Just wanted to tell you thank you so much Kerry! Your template was so much better than what I tried to do. I finished my fans. They are even better than before.

Not a problem! I have really enjoyed reading your PJ. Glad to heareverything is going well for you. :goodvibes

I received my fan sample in the mail Friday. I'm not really impressed in the least with it considering the price.

I'm truly glad I started this thread because so many of you are so creative! Thanks yo everyone who came up with great alternatives for this!!!
