Has anyone purchased a refurbished Dyson?

I'll keep my eyes open for the next sale then...have to finish saving first! ;)
Thanks for the tip!!!

I hate my Dyson. Worst thing I've bought in years. I've owned it since last fall - bought new, not refurbished, and its currently back being repaired for the second time....I've never managed to vaccuum my whole house with it without having to jimmy it. The gears slip and it doesn't pick up nearly as well as my old (and light!) Oreck. I asked for it as a birthday gift and now I hate to look at the darn thing - what a waste of money!

Maybe when it comes back this time it will work

I've been looking at the Dyson 14 (yellow). They are $429 at Sears with a 2 yr warranty. But I found a refurbished on amazon for $309 with a 90 day warranty. I just wonder what exactly dose refurbished mean? Are they scratched/dented, etc. or are they in new condition? Am I just getting someone elses problems? That's a big price difference though...which I like. :thumbsup2 Or is this one of those items you just have to pay for....no deals. :confused3
I would love to hear any advice/info that you have to offer. I joke that one day I'm going to get my vaccum and it will be setting in pieces in a box in the closet, with a sign some assemby required! :sad2:

Thanks!!

Just something I read and also saw on Good Morning America. I am the Vacuum fanatic. Always looking for the better one. I currently own 5 working ones. LOL I have 3 kids, husband, a show golden retriever (super long hair), and a long haired cat. Plus I do day care and we seem to be the child congregating spot of the neighborhood. See why I need my vacuums? Anyway Good Housekeeping seal of approval team tested upscale canister vacs in their labs. The Hoover Savvy actually rated much better than the Dyson for what it picked up and consistency of suction power. I know- it's hard to believe that freaky Dyson guy is fibbing, bu that's the way it came out in all their various tests they put them all through. So I am now scouting Savvy's. hehehe Best price I saw was on sale for 289 I think. Soon as I have one breakdown I think I can convince hubby to let me get one. About the reconditioned question- if your heart is set on a Dyson (they sure are pretty). I worked at Motorola assembling cell phones for quite awhile and I will tell you that most of the products that come back for reconditioning are sent out with more attention paid to them, more work done on them, and more testing to make sure they are in good condition than the new products are. With a reputable company I think it's actually a deal and steal to go reconditioned.
