Hi-- I was just trying to find anyone who has ordered a photobook from Walmart. I have had great luck with their prints... and wanted to buy a 12x12 album. (it is under $50).

I just wondered about the quality-- my main worry is the bind of the book-- I don't want it to get all gnarly and bent/beat up when opened etc.

thanks for your help!

I was thumbing through a photobook at WM (not sure if it's the one you mention) while waiting at the counter the other day. The thing that struck me as odd was the pages were one sided (eg it was photographic prints/paper, bound into a book.) It looked ODD.

I know exactly what you are talking about-- I saw that one too. The lady working told me it was a Kodak book-- different from the ones online--but it made me nervous!

anyone purchase one of these??

thanks again- jen

I've made memory books through WalMart. Not sure if that's what you mean by the photobook.

I'm a pre-school teacher and I made one for my class with pics of the kids in Sept. and pics of them in their caps & gowns for graduation, along with a few other pics. Kinda like a yearbook.

I made a memory book for my DD for her high school graduation. I included all my favorite pics of her growing up from birth to grad day. I had it out on a table for her graduation party and everyone commented on it. They couldn't believe that you could design it yourself (they're not too computer savvy).

I like these memory books because you can design the layout the way you want and you can just have text on a page if you want. I'm going to start to make memory books for the vacations I go on. Sure beats having pictures laying all over the place.

I was very very happy with the Walmart hardcover memory book.

go to shutterfly dot com............those books are spectacular, I own about 8 so far and they turn out gorgeous, cost under $50 as well
(I have looked at and then opted out of the other books, none compare)

I have to agree with the Photobooks from Shutterfly.com. The books are amazing. I have two myself and have ordered several and given them as gifts.
I just ordered one for my DH for Fathers Day. It brought tears to his eyes and he said that the photobook was the best gift he had ever gotten.
It was a 5x7 size with 50 pages in it and if I remember correctly it was a little over $20.00. They run specials where they give you 10 free pages sometimes, so keep an eye out for those deals.

I think when you create them in-store they tend to be the "one sided" type (there will be a white page on the left and pictures on the right) but if you create the book online it will look like a real photo album with pages on both sides.

I have made numerous albums online and suggest doing a search and looking for the best deal out there right now. I think the books look the same from almost all of the online sites (though I have used Shutterfly the most and been very happy with them.)

Once in a while snapfish will have a great promotion: pay for a 20 page photo book and create up to 100 pages. Normally you pay and additional $1 per page so if you are working with a large number of pictures it might be worth the wait.

i have ordered several of the memory books from the walmart website.

they are 8.5x11, though-- not 12x12. the cost is under $18 for a 20 page book and about $1.97 for every two additional pages. the pictures are printed on both sides of the pages like a regular book. (not sure what others have been looking at in stores??? i don't know why they would even offer a one-sided book) there are tons of layouts to choose from for each page that hold from 1-9 photos and some include captions. there are many background and cover options as well. they are hardcover books and i have not had any issue with the bindings. i just made two from our disney trip-- one for us and one for my MIL. i have also made a few as gifts. shipping is free if you pick it up at your local walmart or you can pay extra and have it mailed to your home.

by the way... there's another thread going on this site about the topic of photobooks. some people had other places they like to buy theirs from, but i have been happy with the quality of the ones from walmart and will order them again.

Hey Everyone-- thanks for all of your tips! I looked at shutterfly and thought the website looked great...

I have one book done (nearly) on walmart.com-- I was wondering for tzolkin and nolcrest-- did you do books similar (binding especially) to this:

http://photos.walmart.com/photobookselect3/booksize=12x12

tzolkin-- if you still have yours saved, how did your Disney book turn out? I need to do one for our 2006 trip-- I saw that Creative Memories has gorgeous ones-- but man, they are EXPENSIVE! I don't want to pay $60 for software and another $45 for a small album. (I am trying to be good and not spend so much $$)

thanks again for your advice!

I checked out shutterfly at your suggestion and they seem quite good. But I did not see Disney choices in the backgrounds or Disney icons to add to the pages. Did I miss that or do they just not offer any?

I Recommend Picaboo.com. You Can Work More Quickly And Use Anything As A Background. I've Gotten Books From Shutterfly And Snapfish Which Are Nice As Well As Disney, I Vote Picaboo, Give Me A Sec And I'll Get You The Link To Mine

good question-- do any of the places have Disney books? (besides Creative Memories?)

thanks!
jen

with picaboo.com you can use your own photos as backgrounds so every page can contain whatever you wish. www.picaboo.com

thanks tenia66-- I love the way you can do a whole page with a photo. Your book turned out great!
