We just did this last night. I want to hear others experiences with the big switch.

huh? I have no idea what you are talking about

On November 24th, it was finally made possible to leave your current Cell Phone Provider and take your cell phone number with you. I made the "big switch" from T-mobile to Sprint last night.

I was just curious to how many people switched carriers and what they encountered so far.

I am switching but haven't had the time to go to the Nextel store yet to switch from Verizon... but soon

AHHH INTERESTING...

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE TO BEING ABLE TO DO THIS?

You must currently reside in one of the "100 most populous regions" in the US in order to switch and keep your number.

The advantage is to move from 1 cell phone provider to another due to a better coverage or rate plan etc..and to take you phone number you have with you so that one does not have to notify friends, relatives and business callers that you have a new phone number.

I'm considering switching from AT&T to Verizon but was kind of waiting to hear how smoothly (or not!) it goes. I'd love to here anyone who's actually switched experiences.

I'm also wondering. I thought I'd wait a few weeks until they get the kinks ironed out. We want to switch DH's number from AT&T to Cingular. We want to keep the number because all of his contacts know him at this number. We've had to stay with AT&T because we didn't want to lose the number. Now we have the flexibility to switch to whatever plan suits us best with out having to get a new number.

That counts me out. I think I live in one of the 100 least populous regions in the US.

My husband works for the PCS division of Sprint, and he got a memo stating that AT&T is letting other carriers know about their switching problems. They just upgraded their computers and can't release numbers or do new activations for a couple of weeks. Very bad timing - no new lines at Christmas!!!
