Has anyone ordered a DDE card recently?

I need your opinion on how long it will take to get my DDE card in the mail. I want to wait to order until Nov. 1, so the expiration month will be Dec next year. What do you think the chances are of having my card before I leave for WDW on Dec 3?

If the card does not arrive, do I have the option of picking up a temp card at Epcot? Will I need a letter for that? How much time do I need to leave myself to request the letter?

My other option is to just use a temp card and not even try for the real card. However since I am leaving early Dec 3, I would need to request the letter in Nov anyhow (correct). I would rather have the card in hand and avoid the trip to Epcot for the temp card if possible.

I guess I want the best of both worlds - no trip to Epcot for the card, and expiration in Dec 06.

No problem at all - we got ours within 2 weeks of ordering - if it deosn't arrive you can still get it at Epcot once you get to WDW - I would definately wait!

I know the office you call is at the end of my street in Celebration, so I asked if I could just walk down and get it - "NO". HOWEVER, when you order it, they will send you an e-mail with all the information about how you are a DDE member, and it is good for 30 days, just print it out and take it with you. It took so long for mine to come, they had to send me a second e-mail. So, even if the card does not arrive before you depart, just make sure you get the e-mail version before you leave.

I don't believe they are accepting the email anymore. If it doesn't arrive you would have to go to Epcot. However, delivery time is much shorter now than it was in the spring.

So is the DDE card not like an annual pass where it isn't activated until its first use? I need one for a trip starting January 3rd. When should I order?

It's activated the day you make the purchase. I ordered mine in early September and had it in 3 weeks. I had to wait until the 5th of the month to order, though, so that the card wouldn't expire until the end of Oct., 2006. If I had ordered before the 5th, it would have expired at the end of September, 2006. Be sure to ask the CM about the expiration date before you make the purchase.

I was told to wait until Nov 5 (or maybe 8) I can't remember now, but the CM I spoke to said to wait. If it doesn't arrive, go to Epcot to pick a temp up.

in order to have the expiration date end of November, 2006. Today is October 22 and I don't have it yet so I'm at about 2.5 weeks. We leave early morning November 5th so if it's not here by the Thursday before, I'll call and ask that a temporary card be left at EPCOT. We'll have to go over there then to pick it up.

Remember that they are open from 9-5 M-F only so if you want the card to be waiting on a weekend, you'd better call a day or two before.

I started to order one last month for our Dec. trip. The CM told me to wait until Nov. 8 to order one and then it would be good through Dec. 2006. If ordered before Nov. 8 it will expire in Nov 2006.
