for those who have not seen it, it is an infomercial about DVC.

Just curious as to who I'm watching on TV. Do I know them from their posts ?

If you have been ? How does it work ? Did they find you on your vacation already ? When they show you on rides or excursions, who paid ? Front of the line passes to get you on faster to tape it ? Private meeting with characters .... that's pretty cool.

Anyone ??

I saw it on HGTV a couple of weeks ago. It was on at 5 am CDT so I DVR'd it to see what's up. I was surprised that DVC had resorted to infomercials. Considering the early hour of the broadcast I would be curious as to what demographics they're trying to reach.

thank you for that link. Very informative.

We actually received an email within the past week requesting applications for another round of infomercials. They needed families of a certain kind (certain aged children); we don't fit the mold. They also needed the family to be traveling in September or October. I didn't keep the email since we don't "fit", but apparently the first one worked so they are continuing.

We were so close to being part of it. We had several phone interviews with the production company, but alas...they said my kids were too old. They wanted a family with kids closer to 4,5,6 years old.

yeah, I'm asking because I just applied and wanted to know how this worked. We fit maybe both profiles. I have both a teen daughter and kids ages 7 and 10. I had a hard time describing us all without sounding too over the top.

-Ideally, a family with children ages 5-10-years-old
or
-Families with 2 or more children, ages 13-24-years-old
-Families who vacation together

We also tend to invite people with us. On one vacation, we had 14 people and I provided all room with DVC points. I have brought about 15 different people with us on different vacations to Disney and have one more promise to go with my DD's best friend. I would bring her to help qualify more for the second one if they will let me. I also told them how I have been waiting for the chance to bring my nephew/godson and his parents for his very first trip to Disney.

I was scared I was talking too much and now after reading the report, I'm scared I didn't say enough or provide enough pictures. I sent one of each of us, it may help that one picture is my DH with Mickey and a goofball smile and two thumbs up.

I wrote a paragraph about bringing my mother and how we couldn't wait until she was better so we could bring her again and again see her face for the first time seeing everything (she has memory issues and doesn't remember going) but then I deleted it because it sounded too much like pity and I was nervous. Ugh !! I'm still nervous.

We could go whenever they want but we have no points left this year since we are using them up by going to DL over Labor day weekend for our first visit there. That helped meet something else they were looking for. I know my kids would love to go again. Also, going that time of year would bring us full circle to our very first visit. We went for my DS's 2nd birthday in 2005 and if we do this, we'll be there for his 8th birthday. we are surprising the kids with this trip to DL and are taping it so maybe they'll like that and want to use it as part of the DVC show ? I don't know....

It does say "Must be available for travel in late September or early October for 4-5 days." But don't know but am thinking that means they are paying ?

We were filmed in May of 2010. If you watched the show, we are the last family. I didn't have an application to fill out, I just wrote a short bio on each family member and enclosed a photo of each person. I wrote of our love of family and what DVC means to us. We were already planning a family vacation during the time period that they were filming.

I spoke to our DVC rep recently and he said the infomercial was very successful and they have had a lot of phone calls to purchase DVC after it airs. Because it is a paid commercial, it has aired very early on various stations. Mostly between the house of 5 and 8 in the morning.

Good luck to anyone who applies, it was a great experience.

PalVal -- I just read your story. It sounds like fun ! Maybe we'll get to do it and they'll have another person from NH on the show.

applications were due yesterday. Now just wait to see if we get a phone call.
