I noticed that now that we own DVC, I enjoyed my trip even more than the ones before we owned. Even though the surprises are fewer, I feel this sense of calm and happiness. There is less stress to see and do everything and I relax more. I loved Disney before... but I love it even more now. Does anyone know what I am trying to say ??

I understand what you are trying to say. I think that we really started to enjoy our trips to WDW once we realized that we would be returning many more times. It made the feeling that you might be missing something a little less troublesome. And for us this occured even before we became DVC members. Our home resort is HH and I do know that it is a great feeling when on the last day of vacation we start about when we plan to visit next.

I feel much better as a DVC owner - when I check out and get a bill that is soooo much smaller than when I was a cash paying guest.

:bounce:

I have a much greater feeling of relaxation - and enjoy the slower pace....

As a matter of fact - we travel as a 6 pack, (3 adults, 3 kids)... so, the new September USAIR package deal of kids have free passes, and fly free appealed to me. I checked it out - if we stayed in OKW (not on points), flying from Cleveland our cost would be a little over $4,000 for 5 nights. To stay at AS(MO, MU, SP) - $3,000. The package is very nice for a first time or occaisional visit - but I'm relieved to say that's not us. It was a bit of an epiphany. You see, they give you UMPs... and all of a sudden, here comes the pressure again - to go to parks every day... and if you do, where's your relaxation? ( i don't read about people getting a lot of quiet time at All Stars! :D )

Yep - I'm spoiled rotten. What a thrill to be able to go to WDW AND relax at OKW on the same trip. It's like two different vacations at the same time. I definitely view the DVC vacation as an entirely different animal than our old commando style WDW vacation!

No doubt about it..DVC vacations are so enjoyable!

No more commando mode for us, we come and go as we please in the parks (AP's are such a blessing!) and we take the time to enjoy our resort.

We also believe that have a "home away from home" makes our vacation experience even more enjoyable. We love staying in the 1 bedroom units (or larger with guests) It's great to have a place to store your drinks/snacks, a comfortable place to sit and converse, a great deck to enjoy breakfast, or reading a good book.

We always feel a sense of community when we "go home" to OKW, something that keeps drawing us back "home" as often as we can manage to get there!

I have to concur that it is so much more relaxing to know that you do not have to get up at dawn, and race to a park where you will spend most of the day and evening, then return to your room and plan, which park you will do the same with tomorrow!! Now we simply enjoy our room at OKW and the rest of WDW, there is a lot more to see then just the parks!! We realize that if we do not get to a ride or show this trip, we can enjoy it on our next trip. The best part of the entire thing is that you are staying in a luxury resort, which we could never afford if it were not for the DVC. Joining the DVC is definitely the best investment and also the most relaxing one we have made!!

We too have become less commandos since joining DVC. I have learned, however, to be sure I have our guests leave a few days ahead of us! Our last trip, we had our guests with us the last 5 days, and they, of course were in commando mode since they don't go as often. I vowed that from now on our guests will come the first week and we will take the last week to recoup! In January, I have a 2 Bedroom for the first week and a 1 Bedroom for the second week, so I can't renig on that promise!

One more in agreement - the commando touring stopped with our DVC purchase. Knowing you are going back for 40 more years makes it a very different vacation - for us, it's now a resort vacation with some Theme Parks available, instead of the other weay around!

Our last trip in January we all got the stomach flu (consecutively, of course, not concurrently :( ). It was our first trip as DVC owners and we purchased APs with the plan to go again within 12 months. The day after our son was sick, he felt somewhat better by the afternoon so we went over to MGM. He lasted through TGMR (no bumps :) ) but had had enough after an hour or so. What did we do? We went back to our room at OKW. No worry about wasting a day on our pass (after all, it's an AP) and no concerns about wasting a park day because we know we'll be back.

Ditto to all of the above. Last year on my 17 day Disney trip (when I joined DVC) I was a crazed women trying to get my money worth out of those AP's. My next trip I felt that I already got my moneys worth out those passes so I was so much more relaxed. Especially using DVC and knowing I've got 43 more years to see everything.

I will be doing the Magic in June and then staying at OKW for the first time. I'm not even going to enter any of the parks this time. There is so much to do elsewhere, and so many things to do at just the resorts. I'm looking forward to relaxing this time.

DVC does make our trips more relaxing. Again, "if we don't do splash mountain this trip, we'll catch it next time". Plus the AP's really make a difference. We don't have to worry about spending so much time in the parks to get our money's worth.

As you can see, we are green with envy. Our visits are always loaded with stress ( we are currently DVC wannabees ).

Yes, I feel the same way. Before we were owners, we used commando style techniques to fit everything into our stays. But since buying in, it is a much more relaxing and enjoyable pace. If we don't get to it this time there will always be a next time. I also take pride in knowing that I share a little magic with such great and interesting people as you all. The world is not such a bad place after all !! Enjoy everyone!!

:D

Oh yeah. We know we are coming back so we do what seems fun. We say say we'll see that next time about other attractions and hit the pool.

Our first trip as DVCers was last week and it was the most fun trip yet!!!

Our stays which were always in standard WDW rooms, whether it be the Contemporary, Caribbean Beach, All-Stars became like a prison to me. I hated going back to our hotel room at night because I knew even if I didn't want to go to sleep I would probably be forced to because one person wanted to. And also about halfway through our stay, I started getting this very unsettling feeling about the upcoming bill on checkout, knowing that everything was being charged to the room.

That impending doom feeling is gone now with DVC, no more pages and pages of hotel bills.

I know exactly what you mean! I like to read at night before going to sleep, but my DH is ready to turn out the light as soon as he gets into bed. We stayed in a 2BR at VWL, and I could go out to the couch and read to my hearts content, while he snoozed away!

I thnk that the knowledge that we have a "home away from home" makes the trip so much more relaxing. We also know the quality of the hotel and feel so much more special:D
