Hey all,

Next Tuesday we find out if we get the time/date we want penciled in. I wasn't nervous at all - until these past couple of days. Now I'm nervous. Of course it doesn't help that both my dad and step mother are coming up here for a visit on that day. EEK!

So has anyone had that unfortunate occurance happen to them? And if so, what all did you do about it?

Many thanks, as always.

Peace :hippie:, Love  , and GO PATRIOTS AND RED SOX:cheer2:-Meg

Not to be a downer, but we got put in the lottery three times and lost twice. If we wouldnt have won it our last time we were not going to have a disney wedding at all so I was praying alot. It really depends on your location and time, if we would have been more flexible about that we could have had it on the date that we wanted but had the ceremony at a different time or different location, but since we were firm on that we had to be more flexible with our date. Everything worked out and our date now is better for so many reasons that I didn't even think of at the time we picked our first date. Eventhough some people have not gotten what they orginially wanted, I have never seen/heard of anyone not having their wedding at Disney because they couldn't get the date or location to make them happy. HTH

I lost my first two dates. First time I got bumped out by a convention and the second time I lost a lottery. I was also firm on my locations, and wasn't willing to move, so I had to give a little on the date.

Most of the competition is for the Wedding Pavilion and reception space at the Grand Floridian, and for special dates like Valentine's Day or 9/9/09. Don't sweat it! ;)

Meg-

I can totally relate to your anxious feelings! We're requesting October 11th, 2009 so we find out on Monday (hopefully) if we have our space or not. We're rather optimistic because we're asking for a 5:00 wedding on a Sunday, which isn't a common time/day and our reception location is going to be at the China Pavilion-not commonly used either. But I'm excited and nervous and tense all at the same time. I can't wait until next week at this time when I can announce that we have our spaces!!!!

Stay optimistic! I'll be rooting for you!:tinker:

Like Lurkeyloo said its a lot for the pavillion as well as specialty dates! I was extremely nervous the whole time with our date and found out the day after that over 20 couples requested the date we did for the play on numbers 7-8-9. She said they gave a lot of bad news but some how we lucked out and got our date.. we did get our second choice in time though but works out better since its before 2 now so its cheaper!!! :thumbsup2 They did originally ask us for additional options as well for dates but we didn't have any just the one we chose and figured if not we would seriously just do the day after or before! Good luck with it and keep us updated!!

We won our first lottery, which was actually our 3 choice but lost both days we wanted for the weekend before Memorial day. We were also firm on having a 5 pm ceremony but we did get the date that was exactly 1 year from when we got engaged!

we were able to get the date but not the origional time that we wanted. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!!! :cool1:

LMAO!!! My wedding dates are 9/9/09! But not at WP, but at Sea Breeze Point!

I'm more open to locations. I really want the 12th. Maybe if I give on the locations...

We got our date and time no problem @ Yacht Club Gazebo

This gives me hope:) . Our first choice is SBP, and second is Yacht Club - same day and time. I like both of them equally, so either one would be fine! I just have my heart on the 12th!

Great to see someone else likes that weekend - I think it's a great weekend for travel where people can come to the wedding and don't have to miss much if not any work. :thumbsup2 I'm only confused about one thing (I mean in this post - in general life my confusion is much greater :lmao: ), my WC told me I had to wait until Tuesday to find out if I got it because they were closed on Monday. I would prefer to know Monday. I'm not a patient sort. :) But thank you for the good wishes - I hope you get yours as well!! Post asap after you hear! :goodvibes

So in the end it worked out :) - I gotta remember that in the end the wedding is what counts - not the date. How cool was that that your wedding date was a year exactly!!

Keep all toes, eyes, legs, arms and any other appendage crossed that you can Mindy! lol! :rotfl: But not if it interferes with your wedding planning - that's coming up so quick!! :goodvibes

Thanks all - I feel a bit better. I think the nervousness about actually getting the right date is getting to me. Last night I had a dream where I reserved all the getting ready services (hair, makeup, dress steaming) for the wrong day and had to go down the aisle looking like I just rolled out of bed. Once I get that date penciled in and can start confirming services I'll be feeling much better. :)

It's so much easier to be the one saying "Don't be anxious". I know this next week is going to probably be the slowest one in your life...just keep yourself busy and try not to dwell on it! As much as I get frustrated with my DF when he says "Will worrying change things?", I'm gonna have to quote him on this one....(shhhhhhhhh, don't tell!)

The only thing I can say is I believe good things happen to good people. You are a wonderful, supportive, positive person...and I see nothing but Pixie Dust coming your way!! :flower3:

Hang in there Meg Kate!

Hey Meg Kate. I'll cross my fingers for you!

I am a little confused. When I called DFTW I talked with Bill and he said it was all verbal holds until 8 months before the wedding when you actually sign the contract. We have a hold on the WP at 230 on 8-8-09 and holds at the boardwalk and yacht club for 430 on the same day. We are also on the waiting list for the GF at 430 that day (our first choice). We keep asking Bill when we will know...and he doesn't seem to be sure. Anyone been through this process? When can I be SURE about my times and locations??

It really depends on your location for booking timeframes. Mine was in the UK so I got to book 12 months out. The key is to try and be flexible with your time and the day on either side of your date, as well as the time of year you are booking your wedding. If you are booking during a premium season, on a Saturday night at 7pm ou have a better chance to be in the lottery. If you were flexible with your time, say 5pm instead or your date you have a better chance. BTW, I just made up those times!

Bill is great and he was my SM and he will definately take care of you and help you. Don't worry it is all going to work out!

ARGHHHHHH - I completely understand, the way they do it is so stressful!!!!! I am trying to get an October date as well (10/23/09), and having to wait out the lottery is making me crazy!!!! I am firm on the Wedding Pavillion and Grand Floridian, and limited in possible dates. FYI, for anyone wanting the GF, it is booked the entire week of 10/13/09 for a convention.

I have a question though...Say I wanted a 5pm time slot as my number one choice, and no one else wants it as a number one, but do as a number two choice....would I automatically get it since it was my first choice, or do they also get entered into the lottery if they lose out on their first choice?

Plus, they said you can be in more than one lottery, so how long will they hold the date for you if you win it?

Anyway, good luck! Fingers crossed for you! Send happy thoughts my way in a few weeks!

<----pops a few rolaids... ughhh... I hope there are no conventions hanging out at the Boardwalk. :headache:

I completely agree - this lottery stuff is nutso!! I will be sending all sorts of good vibes/karma/thoughts down your way for your date! :goodvibes

If you call up exactly a year before your date, when do they confirm you have it?
Presumably other people could phone for that date all that day, so do you find out the following working day?

I just talked with the wdding consultant today. She said they do the drawings on the weekend, and typically let you know Tuesday. She said they will mail you a tentative hold paper, and the ceremony site is yours. They will tentatively hold the reception site at that point, but not officially until 8 months in case conventions want it.

My understanding of the lottery was simply if more than one person wants the date you literally go in a bowl and get pulled out at random?? I don't know anymore than that hopefully someone will come along and let you know! As for the contract we signed ours at 12 months since our reception location was lss!
