My DD is OBSESSED with sloths right now, and I understand that SW has an animal ambassador sloth named Mila. Has anyone encountered Mila in the park? Do you know if children are able to touch her/pet her? I would love to be able to give my daughter the opportunity to see a real sloth in person Thanks for any information you may be able to provide! :goodvibes

We didn't see the sloth at SW, but we did at Discovery Cove (on our August 2012 visit):

The handler was out and about as people were arriving, giving them the opportunity to touch/pet and ask questions.

Jack Hanna usually has a sloth in his shows and afterward you may get a chance to get up close, I did once. Jack will be at SeaWorld Feb. 7 & 8.

YES - DBF and I met Mila on International Sloth Day (October 18th) last year at SeaWorld! We met her at SEA Garden, which is at the back of the park (near Nautilus Theater and Terrace BBQ).

I believe we were able to touch her, and we definitely got a picture with her. SEA Garden is a great place to meet animal ambassadors! They don't announce which animal ambassador will come out, but they have about four (?) appearances throughout the day, which are announced on a sign in front of SEA Garden. They typically bring out more than one animal ambassador per appearance.

Mila is beautiful. I have had the opportunity to touch her and feed her. You have no idea what opportunities will be available each day because its all a surprise. There are about 4 interactions a day in the Sea Garden and each time 3 - 4 different animals will come out. I usually see her at least one time every Saturday. Hope you get a chance to meet her. She is beautiful.

We were at SW on Monday, 22 December and visited with Mila in the Sea Garden mid- to late afternoon. The children were able to pet her and get a picture. I am preparing a (likely lame) trip report for our visit, and one thing I share is don't miss the Sea Garden! It is a great little place to see some cute animals and get great information from the trainers and the animal "trading cards" they hand out.

When I was there a few months ago the handler was allowing guests to pet Mila on her back, and she had hibiscus flowers that you could feed her. I do remember one of the other ambassadors that came out with an owl making a comment that the sloth is usually the last animal that they bring out during each 'session' because once they bring out the sloth no one wants anything to do with the other animals - lol...
