My mom LOVES candy apples and any kind of apple on a stick covered in candy. I was wondering if anyone knows if Disney has any kind of mailing service or would be able to ship these out because I know my mom would LOVE to have some of these and it would be a great surprise for her. She'll probably never get to WDW and I know this would make her happy.

Seriously, I'm sure there is somewhere near where your mother lives that sells candy apples, the ones at Disney are no different than anywhere else. We have a Rocky Mountain Chocolate in our local mall and I like their apples better than Disney's. Shipping candy in that heat will not be a good move unless you spring for dry ice and shipping dry ice costs $$$.

I can't imagine how you could possibly ship these without their going bad.

I think the OP's point was that her mother would probably like candy apples knowing they came from Disney World, although there really isn't anything else special about them.

I'm unaware of WDW offering shipping of food from their restaurants and shops, and haven't found anything online about doing it. You could buy them and ship them yourself if they are not perishable items - how perishable are candy apples (I know there are companies that ship fruit), and will you have the resources to pack them correctly?

No, Disney will NOT ship food items from the MS Confectionary. They won't even deliver them to your resort. If you buy something, you have to carry it out of the store yourself.

Thanks for the kind answers.. Yes, I understand that they are "no different" than anywhere else, My mom lives in the middle of nowhere, even 45 minutes from a Wal Mart if that tells you anything and I thought it would be a nice treat if they had some kind of online service or sold them to be shipped. She has stage 4 breast cancer and is undergoing a lot of chemo right now.. Thought it would brighten her day to get something fun in the mail that I know she enjoys. I did forget about QVC, as I remember seeing those and also thinking of her. Thank you Sandy, I'm off to look for those ones now too.

I understand about being in the middle of nowhere!! :goodvibes Tried to UPS a package to my mom - UPS wouldnt deliver! (I lucked out since it was from Amazon, they FED EX'd it overnight - no extra charge - FED Ex found mom!! UPS wouldnt!)

I do think you'd be able to make a gift basket of some non perishable treats (like mickey shaped pretzels etc) and then you can ship them to her!

Maybe this will help:

On our last trip, someone from home requested a treat from Goofy's Candy Co in DTD. If you are unfamiliar, you start with any base treat (rice krispie, apple, giant oreo, pretzels, marshmallows) then pick a chocolate coating (dark, milk, white) a topping (don't remember them all - sprinkles, oreo crumbs, butter finger crumbs, m&ms, etc) and a chocolate drizzle on top of all that (dark, milk , white). These treats are pretty special - definitely better than an average candy apple! They also package them for you in a box, which helped me a lot carrying it home. I went to DTD right at the end of our trip though, I wouldn't want to have that sitting all during the vacation.

Check out FedEX and buy the apples yourself, FexEx may have packaging for you. Of course you will have to leave Disney property to find a FE in Orlando.

My grown boys love the chocolate covered marshmallows in DTD. We always get some our last day or 2 and bring them home with us. We make sure they are packed carefully. When we drove one year, we had them in the cooler. Another time they were in my carry on.

This is one treat no matter where you get it, coming from Disney, makes it special to my 18 and 20 year old. They like these better than other trinkets. The smile on their faces is priceless.

:goodvibes

How about getting them your last day, transporting them home yourself, then shipping them overnight to her upon your return? You could probably pack them up in a cheap insulated bag with a cooler pack & they'd get there just fine.

My girls and I got one of the rice krispie treats on our last night - milk chocolate dipped with M&Ms and white chocolate drizzle. We ate some right away, and I brought the rest home because it was huge. It tasted just fine several days later when I finished it! Don't know how it would do being shipped if it was hot out...I'm sure all that chocolate would melt. But it will definitely hold up if wrapped well and the weather is cooler. And boy are they delicious!!!!

If you decide to mail them yourself UPS store has all the proper boxes and wrappings for mailing.

I'm so sorry to hear that your mother is having such a difficult time. I know that your heart is definitely in the right place, but I have a couple of things that deeply concern me about your idea.

First, I see that you will be in WDW next month. I can't for the life of me see how you could get these shipped to her safely. You can't guarantee that they would be refrigerated. You say that she lives 'in the middle of nowhere', so same day or next day delivery may not be possible. Any food item like this (especially since the apples are already ripe) would spoil in no time at all in the summer heat. And since your mother is undergoing chemotherapy, she will be immunosuppressed and even more susceptible to food poisoning.

And second, with regard to her chemo: is she having a difficult time with nausea? A lot of chemo patients have a really difficult time eating even the blandest food. Not sure that something really sweet would appeal. But different patients react differently in this regard, and perhaps she has been able to retain her sweet tooth.

Perhaps you could just try to find something that she would really like that is safe and practical to ship at this time of year. Maybe even a non-food item.

Disney won't ship any food item. Not just freshly prepared stuff from the bakery and such, but even the bags of pretzels, snacks, chocolate, etc. They don't want to take the risk of something happening to it along the way and being held responsible if it goes bad. Most of the front desks/bell services will help you get a package to FedEx (some faster than others) but they usually won't have packaging. You may be better off bringing your own pre-paid priority mail box with you, and filling it with goodies that will have a better chance of surviving the shipping. Or if you have a FedEx/UPS account you can do it that way, but you won't be able to just pay on site to have them ship it.
