Has Anyone made their March Break 2011 Plans

Our winter/spring break is the first week of March so the timing was perfect for a DCL cruise :cool1:

And since we were able to get the Canadian discount, it's even better

We're still waiting on Allegiant to see what the prices will look like from Plattsburgh but we'll drive if it's not reasonable. We did it last year and it turned out to be a great experience at a VERY great price since we're a family of 6 ;)

I am sooooo jealous. I would love to try a cruise.

It doesn't look like we will be going anywhere this March break :sad2:

Just a question for all of you that have been to Disney during March Break, is it very busy?

We have been to WDW three times at March Break...2007, 2009 and 2010 and loved it each time. Weather is great but not too hot, never had much rain...Light sweater sometimes at night. Crowds aren't too bad either, especially once you are familiar with fastpass system and know where you want to go, etc...

We are hoping to go again for March Break in 2011 but not sure. I'm not going to give up hope until it's too late.:sad2:

Hi, We are flying out of Pearson on Mar 12 to MCO. Spending one night in Cocoa Beach before taking a 4 night cruise on the Disney Dream. Staying one more night in Cocoa Beach before flying home on the 18th!

We will be on this cruise also:thumbsup2

When we were on the Magic a couple of weeks ago the girls were saying how they maybe want to go on the Dream next:cloud9:

I don't think I will tell them till we get to Florida.

We went the week before our official March Break and it wasn't busy - it was quite chilly though so that might have kept the local crowds away. We left for the beach the weekend that March Break officially started and I could see an increase in numbers coming to WDW - as a previous poster mentioned, nothing that couldn't be handled knowing the WDW system. ;) I saw worse crowds during "Jersey" week and the last week of April one year. As long as Easter is not close to March Break, it's generally not too bad. We're going the same time again, so it can't be all that bad! :rotfl:

We are going to Disney for Flower and Garden Festival - love it!

Just an FYI about March Break crowds - I totally disagree with those who say the crowds aren't that bad. That is so not true! I am a teacher, and so I have to go to WDW during the busiest times of the year: July 4th, Christmas, NYE and March Break, and this March Break was the most insane crowds that I have ever seen in 13 trips! I spoke to so many CMs and DVC reps who all agreed - we couldn't believe the crowds!! Absolutely the worst for crowds that we have ever seen.

So, for those of you who are going on March Break, I say be prepared. Our last March Break a few years ago was busy, but nothing like March Break 2010!

We are heading down again this year, 3rd in a row. This time we are bringing extended family. We have 3 villas reserved at Sheraton Vistana resort (our own plus two trades). Direct flight with Westjet 12/19th. Cost higher than most others reported here, but direct from Ottawa, and the flight times really provide a full extra day in Orlando - arrives early, departs late. :yay:

We can't wait!! Probably need a lottery to decide what we will actually do - too many opinions with 8 people going.

We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort last year - it is really nice and they do a great St Patty's day party around the pool - although last year it was very overcast and cool. Great access to all parks - especially SeaWorld and Aquatica.

I am with the post about the crowds being crazy. I too have been at Christmas, Easter, Halloween (not busy at all IMHO), and March break is almost as busy as these crazy times now. You know how busy it is when Space Mountian has a 2 hour wait and runs out of fastpasses by 2pm and the park is open until 10pm. I think many Disboard folks know the system - arrive up to an hour before posted opening, don't do an "extra hours" park unless you are a resort guest taking advantage of that, and try to ride everything you want before noon because by noon you will have 45-hour long waits.

I also think BUSY is relative. Disney does a pretty good job of making 45 minutes feel like 20 minutes so it may not feel as bad (I am thinking of the safari) but fact is once the crowds hit, you are limited on what you will get on in a day.

I did notice that park hours do not extend later until the week after our March Break so hopefully that means Disney isn't anticipating the crowds until the following week. In the past, our break has coincided with Texas and Florida school breaks.

Working on our trip right now. Planing on using our DVC points and trade into RCI. Looking at going to either Nassau Paradise Island, Aruba, or San Juan.
Excited about going somewhere different, but sad that we will not be at Disney.

We are going to Disney's Hilton Head Island - can't wait!

I agree with this. We were there last March Break and have never ever seen it so busy. The CMs also told us they had never seens it so crowded. We won't be going back that week any time soon.

Flying out of MOntreal March 10th-20th on Air Transat - $440 per person but direct and great flight times. 2 night stay at Beach Club Villas (rented points from a DVC owner so only $300 per night for a 2 bedroom villa). THen off to Marriott Grand Villas for the remaining 8 nights. Had a vote at the dinner table last night and we have decided to do EPCOT, TYPHOON LAGOON (Blizzard Beach is closed), ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE (new Hary POtter) and AQUATICA. We`ve done the parks every year so not a huge issue to miss some.

Let`s hope for better weather than last March Break!:scared1:

I`d love to hear your plans.........

When is BBeach closed until, do you know??

March 22-April 5th. 14 nights at a Terre Verde townhome.

So excited. Flying from Seattle on Alaska $1700 for 6 flights return.

BBeach is closed until the 20th - forget which site I read this on. I am glad because normally TL is closed and we are always having to go to BB so it will be a nice change to do TL. But both are open as of the 20th as per the refurb. site.

Good to see I am not the only 7 month preplanner - anyone made their dining reservations yet??

The 2011 Canada Games will be in Nova Scotia so our March Break has been moved to Feb. 14th-18 and then the kids are off from the 20-25 of Feb so we will be going from the 12th - 25th with free dining plan. We will be going also at the end of Dec. to get married Jan. 4th. Seems so far away.

We went to HHI last March break, I am an EA so I go when you do to. HHI was awesome!! Please do the Mickey T's we had a blast!

I agree with you for March Break at Disney, we went 2009, and it was busy, we got thier for every opening, and left around 2pm due to crowds, and hung out at OKW and BCV for the rest of the days, went back for fireworks!!

We're driving to VERO BEACH! We wanted a trip down to florida but just didn't want to fight the crowds at the parks. So our first trip to Vero instead! Very excited!
Anyone been in March before?

Really? Busy? We were at WDW for Ontario March break in 09 and 10 (That was a COLD one!! :cold: ) and we thought the crowds were very reasonable. DW is a teacher, so we only go on March break - can't imagine the summer heat!! :sunny: But compared to Wonderland, WDW is an afternoon stroll in the park. Lines are reasonable, wait times are great. I guess it's all relative to what we were expecting. If that was busy, I'd love the parks when they are quiet!

I was under the impression that Ontario break didn't line up with most of the US breaks, or Canada for that matter - Quebec is always a week or two before us (why we have flown from Montreal last two years).

Seriously, for March Break 10, were you at the same place the rest of us were at? LOL! You can find threads on it (I might have started one). As a teacher, I can only go during peak seasons, and have never seen a March Break like this year. All of the CMs and DVC people agreed - we were all shaking our heads as it was busier than I have ever, ever seen it, during any other peak season time. We have no expectations as we are DVC members, who have stayed at pretty much every resort and eaten in pretty much all restaurants - we just go with the flow, and don't get irritated at all, as we've BTDT, and will be there to do it again. Crowds were absolutely crazy that week!!! The week of St. Patrick's Day, which is our break, lines up with a lot of breaks - the CMs were telling us about different states that were down there, besides all of us Ontarians. They had to close the parks at certain points, plus rides and monorails were breaking down as well - too many people all over the place!

It was nuts!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Tiger :)

I totally agree with the pp about March Break 10, we found the same thing, it was crazy nuts busy! We were at Epcot first thing in the morning, had a hardtime getting FP's, we never did get on Soarin because the wait times were anywhere between 100 mins, to as high as 140 mins! If I remember right, they actually kept Magic Kingdom open late a few nights that week, plus it was frigging cold, especially in the evening!
