Has anyone here ever used Care Credit?

I need extensive dental work and while I have insurance, I'm sure that my costs will still be huge. We have been working ourselves back to good financial health but we're not quite there yet. I HATE applying for new credit but I'm not sure if I can do otherwise right now.

Have you ever used Care Credit or any other such plan? Is it hard to be approved?

Before applying for new credit, see if your dentist will work out a payment plan for you. Some will and some won't, but you won't know until you ask!

I have it and I have no interest for 12 mos if I pay at least min payment every month and charged at least 250.00 at a time. I didn't seem to have problem getting it and credit isn't greatest. It saved my butt last year with 2 root canals and a crown that were not planned for.

I don't have any experience with Care Credit, but DS needed several thousand dollars worth of dental work recently. We worked with the Oral Surgeons office to do half the work at the end of 2009 and the other half of the dental work in January 2010. Doing it this way only cost us $50 out of pocket because the dental work was done in two separate years, i.e. doubling the covered amount in a short period. So, if you can wait until the last quarter of 2010 for half the work and January 2011 for the other half of the dental work, maybe that could cover most of the cost.

We use Care Credit for our dogs (as opposed to buying health insurance). We have 6 months no interest as long as min. payments are made. We just had to use it in Feb. for one of our boys to have a lump surgically removed from his ear. $600!!!

We used Care Credit when my husband had Lasik surgery and had a great experience. We did 12 months no interest, and it seemed easy to get approval!

Same as the other posters. I have used Care Credit for when I had my Lasik surgery done. I thought my payment plan was 0% interest for 18 months, but I could be mistaken.

It's a great medical (people and dog) emergency card to have.

I am using it right now on a 24 mo. no-interest plan for nearly $6000 in dental work. No complaints at all, but you have to divide the total amount due and check your promotion end date to make sure you pay the correct amount each time, paying the minimum due, even though it's high, is nowhere near the right amount to avoid the interest, which is also very high if the amount isn't paid in full by the end of the promotion.

Nearly everyone with fair credit gets approved for the exact amount they submit, its much easier to get approved for care credit than other credit.

I have only used it for the best office, but it is the best thing to come along. I had 2 very sick rabbits last year and it really came in handy.

My dentist just added it at her office, but luckily all my dental work is covered, unless something out of the ordinary comes about.

My credit is about average and I was approved for alot more than I expected, but I know it is there in case of an emergency.

The amount of interest free time is set up by the provider and is anywhere from 3 months and up and they add payments to the oldest amount first, so you never have to worry if you have to have multiple visits.

Adult DD will be using it next week at the oral surgeons office to have two teeth removed.. I can't recall exactly what the problems are, but it will require anesthesia and such, so the total bill will be around $1200.. Dental care sure is expensive these days!

Would DD be able to use this same card for her pets if need be?

I hadn't thought about waiting until the end of the year and then doing a portion in January. That would be great but I don't if my mouth can wait that long!

Thanks for the comments. I'm still looking for a dentist that will finance in office but no luck yet.

I don't want to rain on the parade - but I had a HORRIBLE experience with Care Credit.

First, though - they are RIDICULOUSLY easy to qualify for. I got credit as a college student with a maxed out credit card and medical debt a few years ago when I needed my wisdom teeth out.

I made my payments every month, often more than the minimum. On more than one occasion they cashed my check that I sent in, or took my payment over the phone/internet, and then claimed they hadn't received it. I had to fight them with bank records and keep track of every minute of every hour that I called them... as well as who I talked to.

Also, the people on the phone were HORRIBLE. No matter what time of day I called I was met with rude people who didn't understand anything I was saying. Please, please, PLEASE don't take this as racist - AT ALL - but I didn't speak with one employee who spoke English well, or understood it well enough to address my concerns. I mean no disrespect to anyone who speaks English as a second or third language, but when no one could understand what I was saying (not even supervisors) I got really frustrated.

As soon as I paid off the final chunk of what I owed them, they closed down my account immediately. I will never use them again.

Hey C.Ann, yes she will be able to use it at the vet's office if her vet accepts it. We used ours for Holly's glasses recently, will be using it for DHs dental bill, Remy's dental bill lol, then the dogs for their annual heartworm exams/meds. The girls have insurance but what it doesnt cover the care credit card will. Great backup.
