Has anyone here ever thrown a Star Wars themed party?

I posted a while ago asking for suggestions for my son's costume party. Well, now he's decided he wants it to be a Star Wars (Clone Wars) party, SW costumes optional.

I bought some storm trooper masks for kids who do not have a costume.

So far I've got a silver fringed table cloth, a five foot SW wall mural (it was only $4.xx!), and a darth vader pinata. I also picked up a cheap darth vader halloween costume @75% off for a prize to one of the games. I also got two foot long battery operated light stick things for prizes, at 75% off, too.

So far goodie bags only have a blue small glow stick and a container of "galaxy goo." I'm not sure what else to put in them. Any ideas?

Also, I think I'll do a blue punch and possibly a light saber cake.

I need some ideas for games, too, if anyone has them. I thought about making paper starships and having the kids try to land them on a "planet" cut out of posterboard. Then, there's the pinata. What else can I do?

Maybe a little SW trivia contest like they do at Star Wars Weekends (Padawan Mind Challenge). I'd just add some candy to the treat bags, we usually add fruit by the foot and maybe a bag of chips or something. Check your local Dollar General stores if you have them where you are. I found the hoover discs in SW there once for $1.75 each....that's what the kids got as party favors instead of a bag of "stuff".

Sounds like a fun party!!!!!!

I know with my son's party we did a few "normal" games and just made them more Star Wars themed, like we played musical chairs but we did it with the Star Wars Theme or the Imperial March for music, stuff like that.

I wish I could remember what else we did, I'll ask my son when he comes home.

Cool idea--this could even work for adult parties.:)

Cute, you could do pin the ear on the Ewok or something like that.

Do you have grown ups who are helping? You could put little prizes on fishing line and have the children summon a prize using "the force." (with a little help of course ;))

Also, if they are old enough to read, you could put a character's name on each kid's back, and have them ask each other yes or no questions until they figure out who they are.
