Has anyone here ever purchased pet insurance?

Hey, I work for a vet. If you only knew how expensive it is, you would be saying, "What took pet insurance so long to get here?"

I've never had a pet, but one day a stray housecast showed up at my parents home and my sisters wanted to keep it. "George" isn't allowed in the house (garage only), and he's never been to the vet! I think my dad will be damned before he spends his hard earned money on the cat. Guess we'll just let nature take its course if something happens. Guess I just couldn't imagine spending money on an animal, aside from food.

While I consider him mine, the one in the middle is my Mom's or as I call him, my little brother. He is sitting right next me as I type, I'm babysitting him for the weekend

Then I feel sorry for George that he doesn't have a family that loves him enough to handle basic care for him. Why keep it then? Why not turn him in to a no kill shelter that can take care of him properly and have him adopted by someone that will 100% love and care for him?
