Has anyone here ever had to fire their coordinator?

I ask this because I am ready to tell mine to hit the bricks, not to mention have a long talk with her superiors.

Here is the deal.
My wedding (intimate) is April 25th, 5pm, at SBP.
We have planned an illuminations dessert party for the same evening.
I have asked...from the get go...if it were possible for us to have our ceremony end at 6 and have enough time to eat dinner at spoodles and still make it to the dessert party in time...REPEATEDLY I asked this because it seemed like a tight squeeze to me. REPEATEDLY I was told SURE no problem!

So, many weeks ago, I turned in my paperwork with all my final details on it, including the dinner for 18 at spoodles. When I recieved my confirmation paperwork/bill from DFTW, there was no mention of any dinner arrangements on it. I thought nothing of it, figured it was a seperate deal, as it was not a part of that bill. A few weeks ago, I got nervous about it, and called spoodles to confirm my reservation...well...as you can guess...there is none.
My coordinator never made the ressie.
And naturally....Spoodles has no room. They also state that the average turn around time for a party of that size is 2 hours...which even if they did have the room would interfere with the desert party...WHICH IS WHAT I SUSPECTED ALL ALONG!

So, I call the coordinator. She goes about blaming her secretary for the mishap and starts doing a dance. Shoots me off an email a day or so later telling me that we can try the Yachtsman or Flying fish, or I could host a private affair at SBP or Epcot and attached is the costs for those.
Well...I immediatly email her back and tell her that the private affair is not possible, as for my budget is expired and my guest and I are all on the dining plan...we were all paying for our own dinners.

That following Friday (a week ago) I spoke directly with her. She said she is waiting to hear from the manager at the Yachtsman and she will get back with me on Monday. She also asked if I minded bumping back my ceremony by half of an hour if need be...to which I agreed, another thing that left me puzzled because I asked to bump back in the early planning stages for dinner purposes of course and was told I couldn't as that time slot was booked. So, she left me last Friday thinking she would have news for me Monday. I also know (because she told me this) that resturants typically do not book large parties in the time slot we need. So I wonder how this is going to work, and I am sure that it is not.

Monday comes and goes, as does Tuesday and Wednesday. I send her an email Wednesday asking her what is happening. She replies today (Friday) with she is still waiting for the Yachtsman manager to call her. I email her directly back and tell her my patients is at an end, I have been more than cooperative as have my guests with trying to fix this problem, we are now in a place where we may have to use two table credits instead of one from our dining plans, we have agreed to move back our time, all of my guest are waiting to learn the plans so they can continue making their other ADRs. Basically I told her I want dinner plans by end of business day on Monday or I will be speaking with her superior...whoever the heck that might be...come Tuesday morning.

I am so unhappy.
I feel like this lady knows she is in error, and is trying to stall me as long as she can before she has to face the music. I DON'T believe the manager at the Yachtsman has ignored the two phone calls and three emails she has sent. I feel she thinks I am an idiot. Which makes me all the madder!

Any advice out there?
Has this ever happened to anyone?
Who am I to call come Tuesday morning when I still have no dinner plans?

Thanks in advance for any input/advice

That is ridiculous I am so sorry.I have been seeing a lot of negative things on this board and it makes me second guess if I should do this. On the other hand one of my clients(I work in a salon) daughter is getting married there in July and is having a no problems at all and has nothing but great things to say about everything.

I guess it depends on who you have as your cm. If I were you i would have already been in touch with her superior. I'm sorry but you only get married once and you want everything to go perfect on your day as it should.

I just don't get it. Disney is well known for doing a great job and I just don't think that this should be happening to you and any other bride who has complaints about the cms.

I'm starting to think that they are over rated.

All i know is that if I have any problems after we put our deposit down I will not be dealing with incompetent people. Sorry to sound like a Bridezilla but that is all pretty messed up.

Yeah I understand they are busy but guess what,so are future brides.

Kruggie...I just sent you a PM!

I would not be thrilled with that situation either. Yikes.

I'm not sure how it works with intimates, but for a custom wedding, if you are having problems with your wedding planner (WP/EM) that you can't solve between the two of you, the 'proper' thing to do is to approach your wedding coordinator (WC/SM). That basically means that if you have a problem with the person planning the details, then you go to the person who 'sold' the wedding to you and who helped you sign your contract. Do intimates have a similar set-up?

(And yes, I speak from a position of having some experience in this. However, my final wedding planner was amazing and my wedding went off with virtually no problems.)

It's important to remember that even though Disney is known for its customer service, you are still dealing with humans here. The wedding planners are regular people and they all have vastly different personalities. I didn't go into it expecting problems, but when they came up, I made sure to have them dealt with promptly (after the steam stopped pouring out of my ears ;) ). It's the best you can do really.

I try to keep copies of all my correspondance for problems that may come up. If push ever comes to shove, you need it to back up your story. I received a form letter recently from Jeff Ralls, who wants feedback about weddings. He's the boss of everyone at DFTW. Perhaps you should bring up your situation with him immediately. In the letter it says:
"At any point during your planning or after your event, please feel free to share compliments and/or recommendations with me at weddings.director@disney.com".

I hope Disney more than takes care of your dining and scheduling problem soon!

Wow, how frustrating! It does sound like she's stalling a bit and that is really just poor customer service.

You definitely need to get a new WC or at least speak to her supervisor. Make sure you have copies of your correspondence to back up your complaint.

Hugs for you as you deal with this and some pixie dust that this will all work out so you are happy!

Keep up updated!

what a pain

At this point Id go over her head(since your so close) and get things resolved....& Id push for some type of compensation...why...because you can tell she is trying to cover up her BAD mistakes!!

Its not right...she should suck it up & acknowledge her mistake & take the hit...theres nothing worse than someone messing up & passing the buck....just admit it & lets move on & get this resolved...RIGHT!!

I hope it works out

BTW: I ate at Yachtmans & it was REAL yummy:thumbsup2

How are things going? Did you hear from your planner?

I hope things worked out- this is such a frustrating/ridiculous situation to be put in. I am sooooo sorry you have to go thru this!

Oh dear, this brings back some memories.
I had issues when planning our intimate wedding. I suppose there will always be issues, even if you book a non Disney wedding.
Basically I booked a private party for after my event at the GF, booked absolutely everything and then they CANCELLED the whole lot as intimates were not supposed to have private events. Naturally furious at this as we were 6 weeks from travelling to the USA for the wedding and having to start all over again I had no option but to speak with Jeff Ralls, Director of DFTW.
My issues were resolved after much discussion, and our evening was perfect, better than imagined.
I learned that they would mess you about if you let them. Stand your ground, tell them you are not happy and want it resolved to your satisfaction.
you can email jeff Ralls at jeff.ralls@disney.com

Dont think of cancelling, planning any wedding is never easy, we almost cancelled ours, but I can honestly say our wedding was so magical, and am so happy we did it.

Well....
Monday morning bright and early actually, I had a confirmation number for a 5:30 seating at the Yachtsman! YEAH right!....WRONG!
Sounds good, but my ceremony has been moved back, from 5pm start to 4:30 start..which means it ends at 5:30.

Someone tell me how 18 people make it via limo from SBP to Yachtsman in negative minutes? How am I to be in two places at once? I suppose it would take no less than a half hour to get us all over there.

My coordinator also sent me the email address of her boss....so I have of course emailed her with all of my concerns and told her exactly what I wanted and that I will not be dealing with this particular coordinator from here on out.

I am so frustrated!
I think I will also send off a copy of said email to Jeff....thank you!

How frustrating! I hope you get this taken care of soon.

I just hope you're aware that Yachtsman Steakhouse is Signature Dining whereas Spoodles (one of my faves) is regular dining. Your guests require two Disney Dining Plan table service credits to eat at Yachtsman Steakhouse. I only bring it up because on my first trip to WDW, no CM explained to me about Signature Dining when I was making advanced dining reservations.

I am all to aware of this. Just another one of those things that tick me off....and of course I pointed this out in my letter of complaint.
I phoned the Yachtsman myself this morning and miracle of all miracles the manager returned my call. He was very gracious, and told me that my tables would be held until we get there. I have not mentioned this to DFTW, as I am hoping they come up with something more suitable so I dont have to feel like I am running around like a nut on my wedding day. Plus, I dont really want to phone all my other vendors and ask if they mind bumping everything back a half hour if I dont have too.
I mentioned very strongly that I wanted my original ceremony time and suitable dinner arrangements made. We shall see what happens.

I am disgusted.

wow - your coordinator is actually booking your dinner for you?? You are very lucky as most intimate coordinators will not have anything to do with dinners and many couples have been told to work directly with the restaurants.

See! this is why I am so aggrivated! There seems to be no cut and dry rules here. You are told or led to believe one thing, and someone else is led to believe another.

Durning my multiple questions about having enough time between ceremony and Illuminations to actually have a dinner, I was asked directly if I wanted her to book it. There is also a space on the paperwork you fill out that you give all your details that you want on, specifically for dining. Which I filled out. My coordinator even stated (though I find trouble believing this) that her secretary made the reservation...even gave me a date in which said reservation was made. What ever happend to the reservation I will never know, I can only assume it never happend. Who knows.

I could not agree more! A group of us got together to discuss our upcoming DFTW weddings a few months ago and share our ideas- what we found is that there was a big discrepency in a lot of the information we were told- from what menus we could have, starting ceremonies later, photography options, fees . . . it is ridiculous! Why is it that one EM will give you one answer and another EM will give you another?!?! The biggest problem I had was my EM telling me one thing while the SM told me something completely different!!!! Sorry fot the rant. I am aggrevated for you!

Here's what Kept me sane thru all the problems- I knew the wedding would be great. I didn't have to worry about a caterer not showing up or a florist closing and we loose all are money. Even with all the frustrations, you don't have a lot of the worries a wedding anywhere else would have (for examples, watch episodes of bridezillas).

I hope everything works out and with the steps you have taken I am sure it will. Please keep is updated!:grouphug: We are wishing you the best!

Hey sweetpea.. Sorry to hear you're having so many issues come up. :-( It's all pretty rotten, but have faith that it will work out. Are you aware that SBP is literally walking distance from Yachtsman Steakhouse? You can walk across the bridge to the Beach Club.. that might actually be quicker than hiking back to the Lobby of Boardwalk and taking the limo out to Beach Club.. maybe you could save the limo for the ride back? Just spurting out ideas. Hang in there, chick! It will all work out.. xoxo
